performance worse with F4SE + Buffout4?
Just curiou if it is standard. Wanted to fix some crashes si I tried this - however I noted there is notable increase of short time freezes in game related to "loading" - e.g open workshop, start animation like cooking, loading distant objects... For sure it affect my overall experience negative way.

Anyone know if this is "normal" or any fix possible?

I don't see anything in your log file that would be considered a load error but the introduction of Workshop lag after installing Buffout4 would definitely concern me since the exact opposite is supposed to happen.

Take a look at your xSE PluginPreloader.log file in your Fallout 4 root directory just to make sure there are no load errors. Just as a point of information, in order to get Buffout4 to work in my game, I had to change the load method in the xSE PluginPreloader.xml file to ImportAddressHook since the default wasn't working.
I can not find the file.. Might because it is handled by Vortex?

The XSE PluginPreloader is a requirement of Buffout4 and if you installed it with Vortex, I'm betting it put those files in your DATA folder, which is INCORRECT.

This is from the author's mod page:

Installation
Put IpHlpAPI.dll and xSE PluginPreloader.xml in your root Fallout 4 directory (where Fallout4.exe is), NOT in Data folder.

You are right those files were in data but when I moved them to root folder the f4se_loader wont start game anymore...
Ok, I changed the Load Method to OnThreadAttach. Now it run game again, lag in using pump etc. is gone which is good. There is still freeze in opening workbench but maybe my Sims ettlers Sanctuary is too demanding for my system... not sure.

Any way how to know for sure it is now loading as it should?
there is an issue with buffout 4 conflicting with uptodate nvidia drivers as well, that could be causing your freeze. had to rollback myself

As long as you don't see any error messages in those two log files I mentioned in my previous posts, you should be ok. The acid test of course is to experience a game crash and see if you have a crash log in:

Documents/My Games/Fallout4/F4SE/

The crash log will ALWAYS have this format:

crash-2020-12-08-03-35-00.log

Just so you know, a CTD will generate a crash log but if your computer does a hard reset, its very likely that a log won't be created.

Concerning the rollback of Nvidia drivers that a previous poster mentioned, this will not always be the case, and I'm speaking from personal experience. I rolled back to the recommended version 442.74 (if I remember correctly) and this actually made it worse. Updating the drivers actually stabilized my game, so be cautious if you decide to rollback.

So I had today several crashes and no single log for that... What is interesting all crash logs I have there are dated 20/03 PRIOR I made the changes and mvoed files from DATA to root folder...

I dont need great hint for cause of the crashes (sim settlement "triangle of death") however I am still damn confused if I really use the Buffout 4 o not:/
By this log I probably do, but not sure and if <Buffout4.dll> No initialization routine found is OK or not...

All I can tell you at this point is to make sure ALL of Buffout4's requirements are installed AND in the right places. When I installed mine, the only thing I installed with a mod manager was the Buffout4 plugin itself. Everything else was installed manually (Address Library, XSE Plugin Preloader and of course, F4SE).

After that, I just had to change the load method in order to get it to work.

Make sure that you have Visual C++ 2015, 2017 and 2019 Redistributable Package installed as well since this is a requirement of the XSE Preloader.

If all else fails, I strongly suggest you post a help request on the Buffout 4 mod page since this plugin is being actively supported by the author and the community.

Well I posted my crashlog but got no answer sadly.. Nevertheless...

I decided last resort - uninstalled all C++ packages and reinstalled them (time to time Win10 tends to broke them somehow) and guess what - very subjective but now I would say loading etc is indeed improved over my previous (unmoded) experience - I have no hard proof but I would say it is finally working now. Thanks for all answers.

If I helped at all, it was my pleasure. Have fun and enjoy the game :)

The XSE PluginPreloader is a requirement of Buffout4 and if you installed it with Vortex, I'm betting it put those files in your DATA folder, which is INCORRECT.

When I glanced at this thread I nticed both those files were in DATA also.
What to do now?
If I move them how can I get F4SE to path to them properly?
