Buffout 4 gives a proper crash log, if it is activated from .toml -file (should be enabled by default.) It is not easy to read, but can give us at least some pointer of what is going on.
When you say "corrupted save files" do you mean that FO4 outright rejects save from launch and states it being corrupted?
If they only show as "corrupted" in load view during the game, then that is usually a bug, which goes away by waiting for a moment and letting PapyrusVM to complete it's tasks.
Save file is corrupted, when Fallout 4 reads the file and tells player that file is corrupted. Then it deletes it, leaving only backup file behind.
The fastest way to get to Kellogg (without breaking the scripting or skipping quest stages) is to use console commands to move instantly:
Go directly to Nick at Park Street Station when you start a game by typing "coc Vault114Ext" and then rescue him from the vault.
Choose to meet him at Diamond City, then travel directly to his office by typing in "coc DmndValentines01" Follow the Diamond city portion of the quest with Nick.
Lastly, during the "follow Dogmeat" portion, don't bother. Travel directly to Fort Hagen's front door, "coc FortHagenExt" and Dogmeat should warp to you, ending the tedious slog to this point.
