crashing after i load the save
the game crashes a few seconds after i load my save, i tried everything: deinstall mods (although couldn't make it so that vortex would stop managing the game), updated drivers, renamed files, everything and nothing could fix it. does anyone have a solution for this other than reinstall windows?

Windows has no faults. Probably some outdated mod has corrupted the saves, there may be conflicts, use Vortex.
- Deactivate all mods (not unistall)
- Delete all .ini files inside the Fallout 4 folder in Documents except Saves and F4SE if present and restore the game files via Steam.
- Try to play by reactivating mod one by one

Make sure "weapon debris" is turned off in the start up menu under options/advance settings.

Removing mods from an already modded save will usually make problems worse.

For those who previously used mods and uninstalled or disabled some or all of them and fou8nd that saved games no longer work, this is what worked for me: uninstalled the game from Steam, deleted all .ini files in my Documents\My Games\Fallout4 folder, then reinstalled the game. Older saves will now open, even without any mods installed.

Don't try continually loading a broken save. It's done and dead and will not 'get better' all by itself. Bethesda's saves often go bad.

It is an option in the game launcher.

If you have an Nvidia card then use GeForce Experience to optimise the game's settings. It will turn it off for you and pick some reasonable parameters for your game. You can use the quality slider in GeForce Experience to adjust the balance (quality vs. performance).
