targetID.moveto player

https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Fallout_4_console_commands

Console commands between Skyrim and FO4 are mostly the same.

ah. I tried that, but I used the ID you're given when you type "help 'item or npc' 4" and found their NPC ID, but that didn't work regardless. maybe it was the wrong thing or I missed something, i'm not sure.

Help will generally give you the base ID of something, which is the ID you need to spawn new copies of something.

But to move NPCs that already exist in the game world, you need to know the reference ID, which is the ID used for a specific copy of that NPC. For some preplaced NPCs (like companions) the reference ID is already set, while for a lot of generic NPCs (including most settlers) the game just assigns them an ID number that happens to be free when they're created.

Example of getting correct ID: Brahmin is stuck on roof and creates a ruckus.

You can get relevant ID by opening console and clicking the animal through it with mouse. Target ID will appear at the top of the screen.

Then just: moveto.player and it comes down where you stand.

Basically correct info for using moveto, but I prefer Where Are You Now for lost companions.

^ and beside that, if you are looking for an npc which is not around, google their name to learn their refid. lets say trascan carla;

google : trashcan carla refid
https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Trashcan_Carla

go to "technical" tab and you see "RefID: 000DC939"

just like that.

I see. This was all very helpful. And I was aware of clicking the target with the mouse to get its ID, but I forgot they weren't the same thing. My issue was trying to get Ashes the cat and bring them to the same room where I was with Erin to save some time and rush the quest, since I've already looked for that damn cat on so many PS4 playthroughs. I guess this is referencing the "generic NPC" bit since Ashes isn't a main story character (or an essential), but a side quest NPC, which may be why I was also struggling as well. I completely overlooked the Wiki's "technical" tab which had the ref ID for me right there, so that was a fault on my side.

Either way, I believe I have a better understanding on this subject now, or at least a refresher. Thank you both.

I don't think companions will be a problem for me, but this will be handy for a future reference, just in case. thank you.

Has no one actually tried this to get the right syntax? It's
"player.moveto 001a4d8"

Thanks for actually providing the syntax. Had to dig way to deep to find it.

Syntax is correct, REFID is not, get a list of REFIDs from the internet, don't have a link right now but I know it exists. If visible an you can click them in console, that's a valid REFID.

Wait, are we talking about a MOD here ?
