Why is MacCready hostile & Travelling Kleo

[Jurassic Fart 1]

I know I'm supposed to be able to meet him in Goodneighbor's Third Rail, and that he's a hired gun, but he attacked me upon sighting me at the Red Rocket gas station…and my "friends" didn't even seem to realize that we were under fire.

So, why's he hostile? Goodneighbor residents are currently hostile towards me—might it have something to do with that? (this one's answered)

Travelling Kleo

A couple of days ago, a really good distance away from Goodneighbor, I was attacked by a robot. It was identified as Kleo, but since I thought Kleo always stayed in the Goodneighbor environs, I thought it was a type of robot, not the murderous one that I always steal a Fatman? Fatboy? from.

But, now Kleo is missing, has been for a while. It seems he roams rather widely…and easily becomes hostile.

Yep, he's somewhat affiliated with Goodneighbor faction. I remember he once attacked me on sight when he was my companion and I stole something in the memory's den while being detected (by him...)

Ah. Thought so. I checked my VIP tracker and found that he's already one of my companions. I also just found out that companions out of my line of sight, on the other side of the map, even, can approve or disapprove of my actions. Strong and Valentine in particular keep me updated.
