Generally I venture alone and only use the other companions to get the extra perks from them. But if I had to choose one to go with me, it would be Ada hands down.
I just make my own Ada II and throw the old one as a provisioner or farm duty.
But yea automatron companions while expensive to beef up they are amazing. On survival they feel a bit like cheating they are so good.
PS: Robots get health bonus from levels too like regular companions its why i care about their level cause health boost from level and health boost from parts stacks.
Ada is my B*%ch. I roll with her everywhere, she takes care of business and carries TONS of stuff for me. i never leave home without her.
Using Assaultron Legs sorta solves this issue.
Unrealistically regardless of their top body they fit everywhere with these and they don't block you as much cause these legs have incredible mobility they can move out of your way pretty fast and actually try to dodge enemy fire / charge them.
I find human companions and Dogmeat more annoying (especiallly Dogmeat) in that regard than a Assaultron class hybrid.
I knew she would get a lot of mileage out of this dlc.
Gameplay pretty much became a repetition of going to location after location bombarding everything in sight with one heavy gunner automatron followed by coming back to these locations with a more indoor friendly automatron to clear out the inside.
I love using Catherine in fallout 4 because of this dlc nothing can stand up to the automatron she makes this is easily the most powerful she’s been in the fallout games I have played.
But both are very effective, and I often go for the legs on appearance, since the thruster can give the impression of having only half a robot (especially if you've gone for bulkier parts).
Not including nuka world mods for codsworth.
Yea.. About nuke launchers.
Be sure to have the Inspirational perk cause these things are very "trigger happy" with their nukes.
They won't hesitate to shoot a radroach point blank... while you are standing next to it.
but once you do it's dajibou
eh depends. With my setup they become super versatile. Just make sure you got no damage companion or you to them skills.
The robobrain is for extremely long range and accurate. The sentry torso for tanking and the launcher mods, the sentry arms for damage and health, the mr handy thruster to easily get into tight areas and be super fast. The explosive minigun for AoE damage and the lightning gun for multi targeting enemies especially animals and ghouls.
Everything your character can cover from melee to weapons. It's actually somewhat boring having insta killing capabilities on a bot. Makes the game too easy. Though it works extremely well for supply lines. Sentry bots with maxed out mods can pretty much make sure your settlements never falter.
Be cautious when you use automatron with instant kill parts in Nuka Town during Open Season.
The instant gib / decapitation bugs the hell out of that place. It's hard to explain but named raiders don't die if "killed" by this .. Their bodies get obliterated but they are still alive and try to kill you while being completely invisible and unable to be harmed.
Idk if this was ever officially fixed or if Unofficial patch deals with this.
