Some Character names are in spanish after installing mods
So I recently picked up FO4 and obviously im gonna install mods. Had some issues pop up, nothing language related, with some so I uninstalled and reinstalled mods. Nothing new. Now some characters names are in what I assume is Spanish. For example, if I got to Diamond City the Resident NPC is Residente. Dogmeat (Dog before Mama Murphy/Kellog) is Perro, Trashcan Carla had a different name but I can't remember exactly what it says. Whats strange is it doesn't affect all characters. One would assume Pastor Clements would be different but it remains the same. Is this because of the mods or is this a glitch thats know on PC? I've only ever played it on console since launch so I'm in the dark on the PC quirks

It's most likely a mod, though no idea which one without a list. You might have downloaded a Spanish translation of a mod. Check your mod list.

This or you didn't download the English translation.

If the mod was made using Spanish then the names will be in the language the mod maker used for the name in the npc's form.

I had a similar thing happen involving location names when I installed a mod made using another language. The vanilia game called the door Exit after the mod it was Salida

On a plus side, you could become fluent in Spanish while playing a game. Do this for German, Russian and Japanese... instant career as a translator. Travel the world, 100k a year ... all thanks to Fallout 4

Issue was found.

I'm not sure why, but the mod More Realistic Damage is the culprit. Not sure why a mod designed to re-balance damage would change character names to the Spanish equivalent but there we go

Mods are an open world adventure, there are some great mods made by German modders, unless they have a translation pack to add then the game/mod will be in the native language. A lot of English mods have separate files for Spanishh, Fench and others such as UFO4P

You can use xEdit to change the names back to English.

It probably adjusted the values on those characters to re-balance the damage since the name is also considered a value that can be changed in the forms edited by the mod a mod with the spanish name will replace the vanilla name when replacing all of its data values with the mods new form data.
