How do you guys feel about spam-building for xp?
Just curious if you guys find it cheesy or exploity or whatever. I personally feel like it's OK because they wouldn't give you xp if they didn't want you to level up from building stuff, but at the same time I see why it could be viewed as cheaty.

Some people have experienced a wall when their character gets over Level 100, where the scaling monsters become such huge bullet sponges that their Legendary weapons are no longer getting the job done. If that is true, then there is somewhat of a built-in penalty for getting xp as fast as you can.

But hey, it's a single player game, so whatever you like is fine with me.:steamhappy:

The fact that you need to manually scrap the 10000000000 wooden posts you've built is an appropriate punishment anyway xD

I feel like you get enough xp just from playing the game, I know for a fact you have 50 misc quests waiting to be completed

That all depends actually.

I say that because an explosive shotguns or machine guns, even pistols, make the game a joke on survival.

Around 120 ish level wise is when it really shows the xp wall, even with idiot savant you can probably bump that to 130. But ya it gets really slow after that. Your talking entire quest lines just for maybe one level sometimes.

For the main question though, no i think building xp farms is ok. Do it in a remote settlement or one you never visit or have people at. And the fact we have to reset the traps yea thats the price you pay for major xp gain. 57 x 50 caps is a lot.

For me its spectacle island, and i have around 57 gunner cages in one building.

Also that settlement ambush kit from the creation club. Worth it for some extra xp from every settlement if you ask me. that and the infinite horde waves make it great imo. Security cameras are ok but the fighting is really what that CC add on is about.

Couldn't care less what methods anyone uses to earn XP in a singleplayer game. In a singleplayer game you get to decide what is too cheesy for yourself. I personally dont build post for XP because Im far too lazy and I dislike the settlement building in Fallout 4 and 76

I use a simple mod, using purified water to make soups. Early in my survival game I'd just make 200 noodle cups. Now I'm level 115 I still die a lot from explosives. But I got most perks I want.

building is wasted life time.. it would be cruel not to give rewards for it
How I feel about it is, why not just console yourself the XP and save yourself time and RSI.

It’s a single player game, play the way that makes you happy.

The pt lvl caps at lvl 65,000 around there when the game just freezes / locks in place.

Max is lvl 300 by then you should have literally all the perks unlocked.

as others have already stated:

-it's a single player game
-the enemies become stronger as you do too
-the point of the game depends more on building settlements for resources and looting for them too.
-while the story is literal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you can cont playing afterwards building settlements and ♥♥♥♥.

isn't bad, the settlement exp is for those who don't want a combat build but rather would play a merchant, leader, etc and like to build stuff. You can go out and kill stuff for experience and do quests, or build settlements for experience, gives you the option.

You won't get to be superman by building settlements and farming exp, it takes a while to level up and get the perks you want, you can just not take many combat perks and still it will take a few hundred levels to max out all the non-combat perks (i always play a merchant/non-combat character now, combat in the game is too easy even on hardest mode). And when your passing level 150+ and you still havent taken much weapon perks, etc you realize just with max con and max healing perk, you aren't going to be killed even if you don't know which way to point a gun with your character.. super health and max medic? yea watching everything NOT kill you really doesn't matter if you know weapons or not.

that's why survival mode, changing difficulty, and other mods for gameplay help the game last wayyyy longer.

Yeah atm doing a Cait run wearing nothing and getting her affinity lvl very high very quickly. By the time i got to the combat zone i already maxed out all my endurance perks and heal perks that i'm essentially immortal unless i get hit with a mini-nuke at close proximity like point blank range. I did away with armor and am just free birding it with nothing or normal clothing for higher SPECIAL stats.

Once i'm done with achievements i'll probably go survival with the highest difficulty.
