How do I get the gorillas in the Institute ? I plan on blowing the place up, but I want the gorillas and all the goodies.

There are real gorillas in the wold too (requires the DLC or GOTY). Sometomes you can see them in the distance. Capture them using cages. The ones in the institute don't like you.

The ghoul version. To get them the synth version for the happiness bonus you need to trigger the evacuation of the Institute when you go and blow them up. It is easily missed , in father office.

You won't be able to capture them in cages unless you order the evacuation when you are going to wipe out the Institute or doing the Main quest with the Institute.

It makes me wonder why ordering an evacuation means "Lets release the giant murder apes into the Commonwealth".

Because some of the Institute scientists working in the Bio-science department in the Institute are not wiped out. Your reason for ordering the evacuation is to not commit mass murder as Preston warns you about.

I also do it when I do the BOS or RR Main quest. And Maxston does not seem to be upset I have released unknown number of synths into the Commonwealth. lol.

But if you feel better about it, don't order it. :)

With the BOS the important thing is the Institute is gone and the ability to make synths are also gone. And the kidnaping/murders/FEV experiments/other experiments by the Institute are gone . Synth can be hunted on the lesure and unlike supermutants are a diminishing problem.
I don't see the BOS going every nook and croony to look for synths. If they find them or are hostile the BOS will whack them, but after killing the Institute the remaining synths are no longer an existential problem. And take second fiddle for securing the Commonwealth for the BOS.
This is the Fallout 4 forum. For Necromancing, you go to the Elderscroll fora's.

Actually the Supermutants are the more diminishing problem. The Institute has not been able to make more of them for a while. And they can't breed.

Not so fast. The Institute is just one source of supermutants. The least important. The others are the US goverment/ Enclave / army and various companies. Also the Master. We definetely have a source of supermutants in the comonwealth or close to it for supermutants to exist.

Allied with the Institute, I looked for the gorilla cages but they are not there, another stupid "bureaucratic" quibble that is difficult to resolve.
I will console myself with the Shabani troop of the Higashiyama Zoo

That does align with the fact that the Institute implicitly had to obtain its original samples of FEV from somewhere. Given the small scale of their FEV lab, they're not likely to have been the sole source of Commonwealth mutants.

The source of synths isn't exactly gone if the scientists remain. Just as the scientists take synth gorillas with them, the overall knowledge of synths also remains, and with plenty of synths around as samples, all it really takes is rebuilding the machines to start making them again.

The Brotherhood's attitude seems to be based on dealing with pre-war technology that no-one can currently reproduce, while the Institute built up most of their technology themselves.
