Grape Mentats will let you succeed the charisma check and save Kent consistently within game mechanics.

I've never been able to save him either, but I didn't try 50 times. I tried various ways I saw on youtube. Yeah, people who make YouTube videos lie for hits.

It's really... really not that hard. vats, jet if you need it, and the CORRECT dialog options to keep them distracted.

I've never kept a save where I didn't manage to rescue him, during the fight. Sometimes he gets hit by wild firing from me or the bad guys.

The only time he is *executed* is when you don't choose the right dialog options. Are you not running a high enough Charisma to be able to open all your dialogs? That's really the only reason I can think of for not being able to figure out how...

The correct method is to have high charisma and past a speech test. Convince them to kill you first.

And by the way, a high charisma level is not hard to get. You need 6 to begin with to even connect supply lines to each settlement. There are several clothing options which will not gimp your char, yet have some +charisma on it.

But I think starting the game out at a charisma of 6 is ideal. It can benefit your char in so many ways.

Convincing them is the easiest option, though I've also successfully done it by brute force (just killing them fast enough), because I like to be able to beat them in all of the different ways. It took me quite a few reloads, though.

I'd favour setghost if I wanted to protect Kent with console commands, since it prevents the target from being hit by attacks while still leaving them present to perform all their normal functions and dialogue (so you can apply it at almost any time beforehand rather than needing to time it carefully).

When you're done, you just tap back up to the command and change the 1 to 0 to turn off the ghost setting.

VATS Sinjin's head with the most powerful 1-shotter you have (So long as it isn't explosive.). If Sinjin finishes saying "Cowards" after you intimidate them, kent is dead.

I've done extensive tries with this one, and I've found the easiest way, is to respond with the shrouds dialogue options, scaring away the raiders then at the last second, pop some jet and psyco, pop Sinjin a new one. Might take a couple go's but is a infallible way of saving him.

I really liked Kent as a character so I felt it was important to keep him alive 🤣

there's an even better way. if you have a weapon with legendary cryo effect you can save a crit. use shroud's dialog to get the others to flee and then use jet+psycho and use the crit in vats to freeze the one enemy left then walk into close range while he is frozen and kill him so you don't accidentally hit kent.

Solomon Hawk, above, Has answered the question perfectly. This is precisely how do to it.

Intimidate goons into leaving using Shroud dialogue, leaving only Sinjin, then very quickly take him out as efficiently as possible using your strongest weapon. If necessary even consider using psychojet. My preferred method is a VATs headshot/crit at close range with a combat shotgun, but any strong weapon should work.

No cheats or console commands are needed.

you can either use a combination of clothing/drugs to get at least 11 charisma which lets you pass all speech checks or you can use jet, or even better, psychojet to slow down time to kill them all. a hard hitting weapon like the overseer's guardian should make short work of them even on very hard difficulty.

Until today.

After the dialogue (and before Sinjin blows Kent's head off) hit the tilde key and type:

disable (000228ac)

Press Enter will disable the Kent NPC (he will vanish).

Next type:

killall

Press enter then the tilde key again, everyone dies including Sinjin.

Hit tilde key, type:

enable

Press enter and Kent reappears unharmed, press the tilde key. Quest completes.

Cheating yes, bothered? No. Do I care if anyone else is bothered? No.

On topic: I was on a melee/explosives build, the only possibility was the Syringer rifle with stun ammo. Intimidate the goons with Silver Shroud voice and stun SinJin. I wanted to save Kent at all costs because he is such a nice guy.

You can always return later..so either return later with Silver Shroud items weared and use dialogues yo make raiders not hostile towards you and deal with last one with Jet and other drugs to ramp up damage etc.. +headshot(pops like a melon) "preferably" manual with fast shooting one, but not automatic unless you have put a point towards on it. i find it this way much easier then using VATS in Survival. IF remember right my guns where 10mm silenced pistol and combat rifle(45).
Remember save in a bed before room of where Kent is if requires to repeat.
Also put your companion next to your side to flank a side. (so move your companion in there standing before heading towards).
