That said, I think SS' lifespan depends entirely on whether the Cabot serum cures/prevents cancer. Soooo many rads taken. Even if you side with the Institute, keep in mind the ending there.
Well I'd have to say it does, since Jack and family have lived for 400 years without cancer. That includes 200 years taking the same rads as everybody else on the surface.
Ghoulification prevents cancer too, apparently, or at least turns you into a walking cancer that doesn't die. This is why I mention the 'Ghoulish' perk.
Yeah, that extended Kellog's life pretty well, didn't it? If I was going to use the Institute, though, I'd move more towards making Synth bodies more fully human--including fertility--and using them as replacements when human bodies get old instead of as meat-robot servants.
Synths, if you read the lore about them, are ageless; synths that seem "old" were designed to look that way to fit the roles the Institute had in mind for them. So, if I want to use the Institute to achieve immortality, I'll simply have my consciousness transferred into a synth duplicate of myself.
With access to the Institute as director, you could simply have an entire division research it to perhaps refine it even more, who knows.
Also is there any connection between Lorenzo and that Quarry where you see the visions and get the melee weapon something's Tooth
Actually if you did deep enough into it he was locked up for committing several horrific murders because the alien artifact made him "insane" by the standard of society of the time it happened.
in fact there is a random encounter if we release him where he is standing over the body of one of his newer victims
Didn't know that. Maybe I'll check out oxhorn on this someday. But still, if there was a karma system I'd just dump a whole lot of purified water on some whiner. Expect to get 5000 water units when I get around to spectacle island.
He like the quarry is a refrence to the Lovecraft mythos as for a direct conection well we dont have any hard info but im going with most likely
as for fitting lore psionic powers have a thing since fallout 1and been in everygame. putting aside the random encounters fallout 2 have a legit ghost you can lay to rest by returning a locket so its not like supernautral ♥♥♥♥ wasnt in game even if it wasnt common
the true nature of the sole survivor is that shes a data construct compsed of code made by some extradimenional entirty to interact with the fall world with. you see fallouts not real its just a matrix like artifical reality made to entertain board eldritch horrors this is why aspects of the world change in wierd ways and the history seems oddly contradictory the whole thing including the sole survivor is just data and the entire world exists on the whim of a board god.
It should be fairly obvious that is not the case since if you side against the Institute they never use your recall code to shut you down. Yet there will always be someone who attempt to argue it anyways.
You can also side with the institute and if you do you can probably continue research and greatly expand your life or make a duplicate synth version of yourself to take your place. At least that's what i see since your son made a copy of himself.
The real question is
Why would you wanna live that long?
Progress is pretty much lost and you'd just be surviving. Both your spouse and son (he dies either way whether by your hands or by cancer / disease is another question) and friends / neighbors and all your old world is pretty much gone. You're just a cog in a machine now that people are too dumb or spineless enough to do themselves an will depend on you alot. Exception being the BoS who already have a leader but in a cut content you could've overthrown him and had Danse or yourself become the Elder.
You'll literally be a fetch quest mailmain like in New Vegas or a hired mercenary sent to "take out the trash". You can only build your settlements so much as well in the story before it's both autonomous for defense and trading and connected to other settlements.
Then there's still the Chinese halfway across the world to worry about (chinese soldiers turned into ghouls and survived in 4 and in 3 so it's likely they'll still have outliers somewhere waiting and rebuilding possibly).
The only real person that can help is Mr. House if you decided to help him in New Vegas or not. Even then it'll be planets populated by robots instead of people. You're screwed either way.
