How to commit murder and get away with it
I want to use County Crossing as my Private HomeStead.

If I just kill the two guys there it's murder... not really my play style. However... if I do their mission, and ally with them; I can control them like Settlers... Except... I can't Move them to a new Settlement.

I tried making them Deliverymen, but they still counted as part of the settlement. And then I noticed (as Deliverymen) they were about to pass a vehicle in the road. So I put a couple of bullets in the car, and it blew up just as they passed; but I still got dinged as the Killer - Doh!

So... any ideas how I can get rid of these guys, without becoming a Raider - LOL!!!

Console -> Click NPC -> type markfordelete -> profit

Drop a mine on the ground and shoot. Technically, you can tell the judge that it's the mine that killed them, not you

Anyway if there are no witness nor companion with you, you can just take them out and nobody should blame you

@BlueBird -- I don't really want to use Console Commands; but I'm not familiar with MarkForDelete -- I would have used Disable. What does MarkForDelete do?

@Chaosium -- I've got Curie with me right now... just got her. I don't want to drop her off so soon; but I may try the mines; and if need be; just take the hit :(.

Thanx for the suggestions!!!
If you want to murder someone or do something else a companion won't like, you have to dismiss the companion to a settlement (not where you are) and wait for them to leave. If you just say "stay here" while you take some settlers out behind the woodshed, that won't work, they will psychically know what you did, and comment on your evil deeds.

And I would say always be Hidden (green) when you do it. That proves nobody is watching you, not even witnesses that you didn't spot.

MarkForDelete basically literally completely deletes that NPC/script/item from the world. Disable just, disables it. If you MarkForDelete an item, it is completely gone forever.

How much you care about the "murder" statistic is all on you. As far as I know, NPCs don't use it in any way. And if it's just about you knowing it, you'll know you engineered their deaths no matter how you kill them.

You could try assigning them as provisioners, then following them to the other settlement and reassigning them to a different job there (like farming or guarding) when they enter the settlement boundary. If it works, their new job should shift them over to the other settlement, though you might need to go back to the first one before the Pipboy numbers show it correctly.

Provisioners?

I have emptied that settlement many times. Can you fast travel? Supply line them one at a time to Egret tours marina. After each time wait a bit, a couple or so game hours. Then fast travel to Egret. This should spawn the provisioner on the rock behind the boat house. Go into build mode and assign to anything there like bed, food...

This will transfer them to Egret. Note they will be counted in two places at the same time until to return to county crossing. Repeat for the other.

I'd probably send them up the road to Finch Farm. It's nice and close, and adding a couple of settlers to the potential four already there (if you get the family back together) would bring it to a neat six.

That you might. Egret traps them on the rock so you don't have to run after them or push them back into the parameter. Much easier for the first attempt.

Finch Farm is close enough I'd generally walk it and get a suitable job ready while waiting for them to arrive. Then just assign them as soon as they get close enough to select.

I 'CAN' fast travel... but choose not to; that's on me. Unfortunately I only have Sanctuary and Tarrington Boathouse available for settlers; I've completely ignored Preston, and haven't been doing any of the Minuteman stuff. I don't want to give up the Boathouse... so it looks like it's going to be a Longggg Walk to Sanctuary. But I like the idea of not having to kill these guys. And 'Yes'.... it's just me; I actually forgot about the stats on crime being monitored.

Once more... thank you for your input. It's going to take a while; but I think this plan will work for me. :)

Build a few deathclaw traps and have your settlers do battle with anyone caught.
Anvos Sep 9, 2020 @ 5:53pm
Well if you assign somebody to a stocks you can then build an obscured sniper position. Its how I got rid of ghouls until I had the tarberry bog as a reservation for them. Like others have said though you need companions in another settlement.

I'm pretty sure you can lose serious amounts of affinity with Piper for one by murdering someone.

(I think I've actually had her dump me over just one measly murder, although it was a confused situation so I can't be certain.)
