I lost my two shot gauss

I put my two shot gauss rifle in a container at the castle, and i've looked everywhere; my other containers, my companions, my inventory, and i still can't find it. does anyone know it's base id

There is no base id. A Two Shot Gauss Rifle is simply an ordinary Gauss Rifle with the Two Shot modifier attached to it.

If you want to recreate it, simply find yourself (or spawn with the console) a Gauss Rifle, and attach the legendary mod to it with:

<ref id of the weapon>.amod <ref id of the legendary mod>

Two Shot ref id is 1cc2ad.

This could be the case. Might be worth to check on the inventories of all the settlers in your Castle settlement. One of them might've picked it from the container it was stored into.

And this is also why I dropped 2000 caps on buying the house in Diamond City: It's a home where I can toss all my loose weapons and not have to worry about a settler grabbing it.

yeah. Because the settlement containers should respawn. The settler tend to have sticky fingers. I do the same thing that Dirt Merchant does: i take my best gear and stash it in Diamond City house. Sure, the two load screens are a pain, but at least i know where to find the stuff. And it gives Diamond city house a use.
