FO4 how to get Start Me Up mod to run?

My system: Fallout 4 v1.10.163 GOTYE (with 6 DLCs: Nuka World, Far Harbor, Creation Club, Contraptions, Wasteland Workshop, etc) installed on E: hard drive, with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. Some mods are active like the Legendary mod to make things legendary, Keep quests in Commonwealth, Companion Accuracy. I don't have a lot of mods.

Here are the steps I took:
- Totally quit Steam and FO4. It was requesting a restart anyway.
- Use Vortex MM to install Start Me Up v6.1 by clicking on link on Nexusmods. Oh wait, v6.1.18946-6-1 was never installed for some reason. I appear to have 2 versions in VMM, and only v6.1 is active.
- SMU gets installed and activated in VMM.
- I quit VMM and start Steam then start FO4.
- I check that SMU mod is activated along with my other mods above.
- I chose New game, but SMU dialog never appears. Only the standard new character options appear.

How do I get Start Me Up options to appear? I adjusted some hair color and am still in the bathroom.

p.s. I'm looking at the SMU comments and did an internet search and have not found instructions yet.

Ok I left the bathroom and chose "This is a dream, let's stay here a while." Now I can't seem to leave the front door. Does someone have directions on what I should expect and how to get the different options?

Did I choose the wrong options so I will no longer get any more SMU options? I'd like to wake up in a vault and go from there.

I could not try the other options for this character, as they did not present themselves once I chose another option.

good lord man, it takes a total of 1 min to start a new game and see what the differences are

If you read the information on the mods page it states

This mod provides a menu at the beginning of the game, after the bathroom scene, with three options:

Alternate start: wake up from this dream as a different person, not the parent of Shaun:


Quick start: wake up from your memory, in your pod in Vault 111:

Follows the normal plotline, but you skip all the prewar stuff and get to playing
At the terminal, select your own SPECIAL stats and up to 20 traits


Normal start: nevermind, just play through normally (basically a 'cancel' button)

So basically you get one choice when leaving that room. So unless you somehow have a save after the char stuff in the mirror before leaving the room you have to start over to try other options.

Did you get the correct file for the mod it has one for if you have

Normal (short) dialogue prompts

and another for if you use

Full-length dialogue prompts. Use this version ONLY if you are also using Full Dialogue Interface or NewDialog.

For if you have one or the other of those two dialogue mods installed.
