Have you tried validating game files, in case that they are broken?
Steam Library > Right click the game
Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache
If neither is the issue, then you could have two things:
- Driver issue. Fallout games are quite tender to them.
- Bad RAM. I actually had this some time ago. My game would crash in both random and set locations. In the end I even got BSOD in the middle of the game. While my system and Steam detected the full amount of RAM, memory check revealed that part of it was actually gone bad. Replacing RAM fixes the whole issue.
If the game or RAM is not outright broken, then it is possible that something in your system is struggling with the game. In that case you could try to see if this mod keeps it running.

"Windowed Mode" and "Borderless" on,
"Weapon Debris" off.
It's also suggested to set your max. frame rate for Fo4 to 60, since anything higher might also cause the game to crash.
If you have all DLCs, you could also look for the "Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch" on Nexusmods or Bethesdas Mod list and download it, the patch fixes a lot of bugs and issues.
If you get problems with setting the right resolution

this might help with it.
