Why does my characters face keep going really dark?

Any fix for this? The face textures just go really dark brownish every now and again usually when I equip a hat for some reason. Reloading a save fixes it but it always happens again no time later. Been reading a little on google and heard it has something to do with the HD texture pack but the thing is I dont have it downloaded so it couldn't be it for me?

Edit: People don't seem to be getting this so I'll make it abundantly clear, I DO NOT HAVE THE HD TEXTURE PACK.

Uh, didn't I already say I researched it? All those results are from people who have it because of the HD texture pack. I do not have the HD texture pack. Also, Bing? Really? Did you have a stroke and forget the word "Google"? xD

It has instructions on a fix that works for me and many others. Not sure if you are using any mods that add features to character customization, but that can cause problems too.

*Sigh*. My entire reason for coming here to ask about this was because I do NOT have the HD texture pack and am still getting this issue. I'm sure I can't use a fix for the high res issue when I dont have the high res pack

How? Go to the first three results on the page you linked. What are they about? HIGH RES FIXES. I DON'T have the high res pack. Maybe your the one who should learn to read as I said quite clearly at the first post that I dont have the HD pack downloaded

it's easy to mod fallout 4 , it's seems to be hard to learn how to do it correctly .
learn how to do it correctly , rather than being at the mercy of others to fix what you break

its a ancient bug since the beginning of fo4 time it should not happen to often but mods and hi res tex pack can cause it to happen more often

save then reload should fix it

Save and reload does fix it as I have said but its always back as soon as I unequip and re-equip any headgear. Hardly much of a fix when you need to do it every few minutes. Not worth it. As I have said I do not have the HD pack. And I don't have mods which would affect my characters face as far as I know. Eyes and teeth maybe, but not the actual face textures.
