Safe places to store power armor?
I've been storing them at settlements, but I want to know somewhere where power armor is 100% safe.

Store them in a settlement but take out the power core. If you exit near a power armor workbench there will be a nice animation/pose of the power armor being at the workbench.

Once you've claimed a frame (climbed in it and it's not stolen) it's yours forever and won't, afaik, be removed or reset, it will stay wherever you leave it. Just remember to remove the fusion core because npc (good and bad) will claim it if it has a core in you'll also notice the last suit you used will be marked on your pip-boy. If you've made a collection then it's probably best to leave the ones your not using at settlements like your doing.

Store them in sheds that used powered doors. You can also get really creative and use the Warning Siren and a logic gate so that during attacks (Settlers will use the Siren) the Siren transfers power when activated, trips the logic gate and if you wire it right to powered doors, they'll all slam shut when you're under attack.

I usually build a warehouse at a settlement I don't use. Leave just the frames there, no cores or armor. Nothing else there, so even if I fast travel in.. npcs can't steal the armor.

Take the fusion core out. AFAIK NPC's can't operate power armour unless there's a core in it.

true, but if they loot one from a container (or in the case of some with weapons/scrounger perk effects) they can steal one by adding their own

Carry them with you if you're not playing survival, or if you are, store them well away from power armour.

Also, if you have the DLC's, I believe either Contraptions or WW adds some kind of power armour display case that stops thefts.

I find it kind of ironic that everyone else is having trouble keeping their settlers out of their power armour, but I'm having trouble keeping them IN it

Dude, if that were remotely true, the OP wouldn't even be here. DAMN IT.

I've never seen that happen. NPCs don't pick up random objects with the expectation that they'll be able to use it in the future.

But to answer the OP's question, the easiest place to store all your power armor is to put it anywhere in Home Plate in Diamond City. Absolutely no NPC will walk into your house on their own. You're not even allowed to send dismissed companions or settlers to there.

As mentioned, power armor is safe as long as it doesn't have a core in it. However, settlers can loot power cores from some Rust Devil robots during an attack. Its usually when they go to loot a weapon or ammo from a corpse, they grab everything including the core, then your PA is up for grabs.

I usually ignore my settlers after building up defenses then arming and armoring them with good stuff. But every now and then I'll go and trade one after a few attacks and some will be carrying cores and ammo I didn't give them.

As a general rule I only store power cores and ammo in Home Plate, its the only way to be 100% certain nothing will take them.

But it has to be said, even though I find a couple settlers with looted power cores on occasion, in multiple playthroughs and over 800 hours of playing they've never taken any of my PA.

Store Power Armor anywhere.. Just remove the fusion core and it will not be taken

In Skyrim I use Goonie, maybe Fallout Nexus has similar,
Quick features list:
* Unique NPC, Goonie, with custom voice acting for all dialogue (thanks Dark Rogue)
* Easy summon, anywhere, with the Ring of Sales
* Will buy any item, even stolen goods
* Has 20,000 gold for bartering
* Carries a wide range of useful items
* Goonie has the ability to 'store' an endless amount of items, free of charge

You can command NPCs to enter PA without a core, and they will use it. They're slow, but they will use it.

I made a mod that allows Sanctuary to be completely cleaned up except for the player's house and the one across the street where the Concord bunch gather. On one of the spare foundations, I build a mini-storage for my power armor using the Metal Hall Ends (5-sided box), with PA stations in each bay. NPCs can be found working on them, but have yet to have them commandeer one during an attack.

Of course, the trick is, as has been stated several times, to remove the fusion core.
