i'd like to see russia's perspective on the whole thing pre-war, much like this one did, or any communist country since this was about the whole communism v. capitalism ending in a nuclear ball of fire across the world. could be interesting.

They (not Bethesda, Interplay) kinda covered the Vault Tec story in Fallout Tactics (Unless Bethesda Retcon's it).

The Chinese thing is totally possible as I believe there were American Forces in Asia prior to the Nukes. So you can go a few ways with it, Chinese faction that recovered Power Armor or American Forces that naturalized (or whatever word is for when Occupying forces combine with the locals (either forcefully or voluntarily).

I would like to see them develop a real storyline now that they got the tech in had (stable gameplay). Maybee multiple starts ala Dragon Age Origins or pretty much any MMO (Don't want Multiplayer, but use lessons learned in an MMOs design). Go to a more player developed Character.

Rader, Caravaner, Trader, Merc, Craftsman, Farmer, etc start. Maybee a Ghoul or Supermutant option as well.

These things are irrelevant to any main story that is solution orientated. Who cares what you were before, you don't need to be a Pre War Parent to fix the world. You are the one to deal with the problem is all that the story needs to care about. Let me decide how I got there (adds so much value to the Playthrough.)

Taking up OPs idea, i wouldn't mind playing as a vaultec employee or former employee .What i really want for the next Fallout 5 is having the option to pick a career that gives me bonuses to stats and perks. It would give us rpg choices. Also, instead of giving us one story to start out with, i want Bethesda to borrow from Bioware (forgetting about the disaster called Andromeda, of course) and give us different opening stories like Bioware did in Dragon Age origins.

i obviosly agree with his more detailed view. For me the worst part of any Bethesda game, including Fallout 4, is the story and how linear it is. Even my favorite game of all time (Fallout 3) had one of the most linear stories i have ever seen. Fallout 4 went one worse by now deciding my marital status, my sexual orientation, my career, whether i had a kid, what sex that kid was, and even that kid's name. No thank you. Luckily, there is an exceptional starting mod (start me up i think it is called) that i always use now. It lets you decide your career and starting point. Makes for great rpg.
