Who wants more FPS?
fallout4prefs.ini

[TerrainManager]

fTreeLoadDistance=12500.0000
fBlockMaximumDistance=80000.0000 <--- distance for minimum detail rendering
fBlockLevel2Distance=65000.0000
fBlockLevel1Distance=20000.0000
fBlockLevel0Distance=12000.0000 <-distance of maximum detail rendering
fSplitDistanceMult=0.5000
bShowLODInEditor=0

this section handles level of detail for object render at various distances, these are my current values and dispite having 25% the distance of default settings... I can STILL see Corvega from the Vault 111 exit... lmao

Screenshot showing current LOD distance here --> https://imgur.com/a/juPVX

give it a try, i'd love some feedback on optimal settings :)

save an extra copy of your fallout4prefs.ini before editing.

Thanks, but it's too late for me, Way too late. I have uGrids set to 11 and from the top of Trinity Tower, I can see Nevada. I like Nevada. I'm from Nevada. Nevada has ........ Well, that's another story.

pretty sure you're safe to tweak this without having to worry about the save game troubles that happen with ugrids.

I'm another ugrids on high value person.

In Skyrim, some of these types of settings just set the graphic options slider min and max values, or have no impact as other options take precedence. If only Bethesda would document this somewhere it would be a great help.

lol that's awesome! never been but give us a few stories when you're in the mood, or drunks :)
I customized mine also, have an RX 480 8gb here but have combined meshes disabled due to modding which is a big whammie to FPS. Disabling combined meshes for modding purposes (usually scrap mods), cuts FPS in half in many spots. Overcame that with some brute-force and of course, modding in the config files.
Ugrids I believe, isn't that the one that says how many cells of AI nav to load @ once? This is processor-dependent, if so. Even my 4790k doesn't like going over 5...

Hey, enlighten me with something, do mods affect FPS and if yes, by a lot or depends on the mod? I've an i7 4790k + GTX 970 w/ steady 60 FPS the way I set it up due to lockpicking issues if higher. I have zero mods, totally vanilla.

I'm not an expert on the subject, lots of texture mods could affect performance, but there are a few mods that optimize textures.

you could probably use quitems a few mods and the performance mods would balance it out, or even improve performance possibly
