Weapon modding for hip-fire accuracy
I've done a lot of searching, but I can't seem to find any info on this:

I'm trying to figure out if the scope/sight equipped has any impact on hip-fire accuracy. I realize that it technically shouldn't, but mounting a better scope increases the "Accuracy" rating number on the weapon... so does this have anything to do with actual hit percentages when hip-firing?

I guess what I'm getting at is this: Would hip-firing accuracy--actual chance to hit and weapon spread--be better with standard sights, or a recon scope? And does having a big scope on a gun have any negative impact on hip-fire accuracy?

BTW, I'm not interested in real-world logic. I'm strictly referring to in-game mechanics.

I think it makes it worse.

The way to test is to add the mods and then aim at a turret with vats. Make a note of how many shots you will get and then add / remove a mod and repeat the process.
The hip firing improvement mods on the weapons bench mostly are in the barrel ( lighter= better) and in the stock.

As far as I can tell from looking at my list of mod part adjustment values, scope/sights generally don't touch the basic aim cone (used for hip-fire), and only alter the "iron sights" multiplier that the game uses to adjust that cone's accuracy for aimed shots.

So no, scopes/sights don't really do anything for hip-fire accuracy, which is why their in-game descriptions don't mention it.

You use xedit to create an eslified override patch. If you don't know how, learn. Although I am not sure why did the first replier decide that an 8 year old thread needed a necro.

They apparently had the same question as the OP about whether sights and scopes affect hip-fire accuracy.

At least the original now has some relevant replies. Reduce, reuse, recycle. :steammocking:

Agreed.
I also have no beef with a good Necro.
Many solutions are time tested and do not change frequently

Same. I don't why anyone would care how old a post is. Not like they are forced to read it.
