Viable Blood Samples

I got the quest from Neriah and so far I've gotten one.
How do you get them, is there a specific thing you need to do?
Also how many blood samples do I need?

I always believed that you collected them randomly, whenever you loot any animals you have killed. In any event, this is a continuing quest, so it just keeps going (at least it has for me), so you can just keep bringing her samples and she'll keep paying you. Basically the same as collecting technical papers.

They only drop from certain creatures and it is not a guaranteed drop.

Creatures that potentially drop viable blood samples:
Feral ghouls
Mirelurks
Bloodbugs
Deathclaws
Mongrels
Super mutants
Yao guai
Radscorpion

You need 20 samples (per dose) as I recall, and I found it best to turn in round lots of 20 to prevent any extras from being delivered but not registered. If they were in my inventory at the time, any samples over the required 20 would be taken, but weren't counted towards the number needed for the next dose.

I don't know if they ever fixed that.
