Mister Sandman useless?

Believe me, this perk is ideal if you're the sneaky type of person but to me this perk feels useless. Whenever I try to sneak up on a sleeping person they wake up before I get within range to do the "kill in their sleep" thing. I am treading slowly while in sleep mode but it feels like everyone in Fallout 4 is a light sleeper.

I do have rank 1 in the "Sneak" perk but do I need to upgrade it to sneak more quietly?

I've been able to walk up to people and poke them with my finger with a high sneak skill, so I'd guess that's the problem. Sneak melee is a lot of fun to play actually

You're not stealthy enough or you would be able to sneak up and do a sandman kill. Many things will make you more stealthy, like crouching. There are too many things you can do to improve this so give it a google.

Rank 4 Sneak gives 100% noise reduction when you're walking in sneak mode, before that you make too much noise to simply walk at people.

Also that perk is far from useless thanks to the bonus damage on suppressors, which is VERY good and stacks with all other bonus, so that title is outright wrong

Crouch and use a suppressed weapon and you'll notice that perk is useful.
Take your time to level both the Sandman and the Sneak perks up to max and you'll have more fun, while eventually being able to use some knives, swords or other sharp weapons for that special kill.

I am crouching and people still wake up, that's how I sneak anyway.

I am using the Deliverer (silenced Makarov) and crouching.

I just need to upgrade the stealth then.

The mister sandman perk can be quite useful in certain situations.

That said some do not seem to understand how it is used based on their posts.

We do not use a weapon of our selection for it we simply sneak up on the sleeping enemy and select to use sandman kill when close enough to get the option it then plays a scene of us taking out the enemy usually showing a knife being used even if we do not have one.

If not using the option popup to use the perk it is just a stealth kill using our sneak ability and a weapon of our choice.
