I wish you could mix and match clothing pieces.
Topic, really.

I just think there are a lot of pants and shirts and vests and stuff I wouldn't mind mixing up, but sadly its always part of a set. Maybe next game? I think it'd be an even more immersive way to customize your character.

Sure, but be aware that everything comes at a cost - in this case, you would need to come up with some system to deal with clipping issues (instead of having one designer create the models by hand you would need a dynamic cloth simulation in case the player wants to equip a leather jacket over their backpack, for example).

In addition to being a huge waste of developer resources I am not even sure if it would be possible to run this kind of simulation on every piece of clothing equipped by every NPC in a crowd at 60FPS on console.

There are some tricks to that, like having belts and pieces of clothing going around the waist, or tucked under the pants or something. Hanna-Barbara (spelling?) used "segment" system with their art and animation so they could just fit things together like puzzles. You just gotta be creative in how you deal with the program. I think conceputalizing the solution would be harder than actually solving it with programming. I don't think you'd need a physics system built in with the clothing, you'd still have the same problem.

There are lots of mods for clothing and armor that allow you to use individual pieces. My character and follower are wearing items from 3 different mods ( jacket, chest, legs, boots, leg gun holster, glasses, all from different mods) Sometimes you need to use the Outfit Studio to make them fit but thats easy to learn.

Really? What mod is that? I have a few different clothing mods, but those use a whole set created individually by the independent modders.

Just look on Nexus for something you like. Then read the descriptions and peoples comments etc. to see whether they are modular or not. Most of mine probably wouldnt make it through the censor, lol.:spg2devil: One I could mention https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/26309 K-Girl outfits. Using Outfit Studio you can mix and match or take pieces from these outfits and make new outfits with other mod pieces. There is https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/22431 Eli's Armour Compendium with quite a few accessories and modified armor.
Just takes a few hours of reading and searching to find what you like and then maybe another 10 or so plus hours of playing around in editors to get it to what you want. Really. Lol. I'm serious about the time you can spend on it..

I have Eli's outfits, but not the armor one. Those clothing suits are all in a set. Pants/Shirt/Backpack/Scarf/etc are all put together. What I mean is being able to decide what shirt you want to wear with which pants. :P

Wait, is that KPOP clothes?

YES PLEASE. Though playing as any of my favorite kpop artists would be...not immersive XD

If you learn how to use Outfit Studio, which is real easy for the basics of just swapping items and sizing, each clothing item is a separate item. You can move them around and make different sets.
As for "Not Immersive". I have 3000 hrs in. I dont care anymore. Also my children and grandchildren are all old enough I can finally put all this stuff in my game.

I'm about to hit 1000 hours in.

I'm falling behind! Gotta step it up! This game is so much fun to explore, and I get lost just in the roleplay and settlement building.

With Outfit Studio i've put together outfits from as many as 4 different sources.
