Plus the Dunwich stuff isn't the only pre-war stuff to use Radiation as a form of weapon. We have that revolutionary guy's sword that does radiation damage.
Also the whole Dunwich thing originated as a Dead Space/Evil Dead Reference. And was further expanded with the Point lookout DLC when you could take the Necronomicon to an Obolisk buried under the dunwich building that looked kinda like the Dead space one, So I don't count the whole dunwich stuff as being canon.
and its canon you cant just toss it out.
