SPOILER Could Shaun be saved?

During the institute ending, Father (Shaun) tells you that he is dying from some sort of cancer. In vault 81 the vault tec scientists wee working on creating the cure for every disease or illness, if you follow that quest you give the serum to a sick child in the vault. But couldent you give it to Shaun instead and cure his cancer?

I think the cure from vault 81 only cures bacterial infections or virusses, as most experiments were conducted on infected molerats. The doctors were also supposed to infect the residents of vault 81 with whatever they created through the multible vents inside the vault, and we all know that cancer has a different origin.

Way to save him: ignore him, don't do any final quest for the institue or any faction.

A number of things found in game could have been used to save so-called father shaun (I still don't believe that it's really him), such as cabots blood . It really was a missed opportunity.

I like how there was no option to take Shaun back to Vault 111 and stick him into one of those perfectly functional cryopods until a cure was found.

Yeah. Also, you think that the institue has all of that technology, yet can't make Shawm live past 60, while a old lady who has been attacked by creatures and affected by radiation her entire life ( Mama Murphy ) can survive longer?
