Fallout 4 Nuclear Option Crash

I'm on the Nuclear Option mission with the Minutemen and when I press the detonation button, the game fades to black, a loading screen comes up, and when its done loading, it crashes. Please help.

I tried disabling the mods, but all that did was cause my game to crash the moment it loaded the save. I then tried just disabling the Heather Casdin mod, but that didn't change anything.

If you want to do the Nuclear Option with the Minutemen, all I have left to suggest is to uninstall all your mods and try again. If that doesn't work re-install the game. After uninstalling make sure you delete anything left in the game folder at C:/Program Files[x86]/Steam/steamapps/common/Fallout 4 and the Fallout4.ini plus the Fallout4Prefs.ini located in Documents/My Games/Fallout 4. That is the only way to effectively remove all traces of your mods and the game to fix your issue.

If you are in an exterior, where weather is active, dont uninstall True Storms without preperation first. You should never uninstall it anyway on that character, once you use it. It modifies the vanilla weathers as well and that is most likely the reason, the game crashes while you load the save, now.

If you really want to try and uninstall it, use the console-command for a sunny vanilla weather (without fog or many clouds, those could be modified), then go into an interior-cell, where weather isn't active (coc to Vault 111 for example), save the game and disable (untick the .esp file) the mod afterwards. Now load the save without the .esp, save again, now remove anything remaining of the mod like textures etc, then restart the game again, load the newest save without the .esp and go outside and see if it still crashes. If it does, you don't want to uninstall this mod on this character ever again.

I know this is an old thread, but this happened to me, it 'crashed' stuck on a grey screen like the first frame of a video. Task Manager showed it as 'Not Responding'. I alt-tabbed out to Windows and read around on the net for a fix, found the FAQ about console commands and jumping to the Red Rocket, but by the time I alt-tabbed back to the game, the video played and the game continued.

So in some cases, just wait, or alt tab in and out of the game, it may unstick itself after a few minutes. I have a large number of mods installed (Fallout Appearance package), which may be the reason for the long crash-like pause.

Im just a new fallout 4 player, but i was so heartbroken when i finally decided to finish the minutemen storyline, my game crashed right at this spot over and over.

The same thing happened with BoS because it lead to the same point, ofc i couldn't know this until i had already started the whole game again and go to that point with BoS..

I thought perhaps it was because i didnt have all the DLC but it continued to crash at that exact moment.

I don't use or even know how to use mods with fo4 so that certainly wasnt the issue.

All i can say is i was really upset i couldnt continue after this quest or that i would be forced to never finish the game due to it.

Oh my god, this worked! Thank you so much! I was at my wits end! I looked everywhere for a fix and this one comment was my salvation.
