You could have consoled out of it. Doombringer posted the console command that allows you to return to survival.
When creating a game there is always a limited time frame and finances to develop the product and get it out for consumption. Eveything and anything is possible but we are finite. I guess that is one of the important bases the modding community has covered :D
I think the storyline is done in such a way that a million countless stories can sprout from it along with whatever the player can dream up. Maybe they are not all fleshed out but the seeds have been planted to be nourished.
Hi guys I'm survive level 131. It's been a great adventure. Completely vanillia, no mods. Problem is I'm stuck. I picked the Institute and played through their mission until I'm supposed to have my first meeting, and the game is glitched. Although I sit down at the chair the game won't start the next phase of the mission.
I read about a code that can change the game back to survival. I'm tempted to lower the difficulty, use the console the skip that mission or at least jump to the next phase and then re-enable survival. But I'm torn I don't want to cheat although I don't know if this qualifies as cheating since it's a bug.
What do you think?
On a side note does anyone know the code to re-enable survival difficulty?
Trya forum search. Doombringer just posted it in another topic the other day.
Yeah this, sorry. GL, search should not be too hard as the post was recent.
It's fine, like playing in a cartoon. The only "Normal Grr" is the bullet spongery. Multiple head shots from a 308 to take down a Gunner Private??!? Otherwise fine.
Honestly, the same kinda applies to Survival in my opinion.
Once you get enough hubs around the map to supply you with food and water, you're golden. Only diseases might slow you down, but again, with enough settlements with doctors in it, it's more an inconvience then anything else.
Bulletsponges...yeah :S
Install Game Configuration Menu (or Survival Options). Amp up the damage to your liking. I prefer everyone (including myself) to be nearly glasscannons. (there are a lot of damage changing mods, i just like the simplicity of this one, without needing to download 4-5 mods)
Mods like Better Locational Damage also work great for this. Headshots are headshots. I die when a dog bites me in the face, done. Shotgun staggers you aswell. Molotows do damage overtime (burning) Do mind, it also adds bleeding -you can bleed to death after the battle. LifeGiver doesn't kick in after you used bandages.
Agony is similar. Some really nice animations aswell. (some rare ingredients aside, most of the new healing items aren't that hard to acquire). I think I mostly like the extra weight I've got to drag around, got to be selective in what im gonna carry.
I really like Arbitration. It makes enemies more smart and more aware of you. It has some options when you install it, so read them.
Does what it saids on the can, it multiplies enemies. Configuration through the MCM, so you can adjust the value's to your level. It both multiplies the spawns as spawn the same group near you (out of line of sight).
You might want to turn of interior spawns tho. I forgot that during Tradecraft.
What i like about it, is that it forces me to pickup weapons from my enemies to use the ammo they drop. Just to not deplete the ammo for my favorite weapons.
Then only the "pseudo difficulty" of assymetric damage multipliers (input/output) remains. But you barely notice that's stacked against you because (as I think I said up thread somewhere) the AI just can't exploit the one shot kill reality like you can.
So yes, a different 'feel' of arcade, a one shot feel, but still arcade.
Thanks again for the excellent and detailed mod suggestions.
That's what i like about Survival Mode it keeps me sharp and on my toes. While normal is still plenty dangerous alot of it has to do with me knowing i can take a ton of damage getting overconfident and sloppy then voila am dead. Plenty of times i'll jump right into the open in a fire fight then suddenly think i would never get away with this in Survival Mode and how i miss that extra bit of realism in the mix.
Bullet spongey enemies i don't mind if they're Super Mutants and monsters but yea a raider taking a bunch of damage does get a bit jarring. I keep in mind though what was talked about in a earlier post about ammo and weapons degrading over time and how in real life weapons and ammo from past world wars either fire duds or wont work at all due to degradation over time. Keeping this in mind i can easily accept bullet spongey humans.
Even modern weapons like assualt rifles have to be constantly cleaned and maintained to work reliably which was one of the cool features in FALLOUT 3.
The weight factor is great. It makes me stick to the early game weapons much longer while enjoying the fun of upgrading them to the max. Nothing like a pipe gun modded to have less kick back with high damage output as a raider falls screaming off a roof :)
Another thing is how Survival Mode gives major importance to all the non combat items in the world like food. Now i can look at all that delicious food in the game world and feel it is more then just a downgraded med kit.
I like your retcon about bullet misfires and duds. I'm going to roleplay that every time a raider or gunner takes one to the face and laughs his head off. Instead of me laughing as his head comes off. :-)
Like you I don't mind so much with Super Mutants and monsters, they have some strange biology going on, that's fine.
