Companion Talk/Trade Dialogue Menu
How does the game decide when the Trade/Talk/Stay or Thoughts/Dismiss/Relationship menu shows up when pressing E on a companion? It's pretty random when I play, and rather infuriating when I want to trade. You can go from the T/T/S to T/D/R, but not the other way around.

NO, I'M _NOT_ TALKING ABOUT THE PROXIMITY YOU NEED TO BE WITHIN IN ORDER TO HAVE THE MENU SHOW UP IN COMPANION COMMAND MODE. Just to clarify.

Secondly, are there any mods to trade directly with companions bypassing the dialogue menu? I've looked all over Nexus and the only one I find doesn't work with Unlimited Companion Framework.

It should always be the same trade/talk/stay thing unless you have any mods interfering. The dismiss/relationship options come up once you select the talk option in the first menu,

I'd thought it was UCF, but it doesn't seem to be an issue from the discussions on it.

I forgot to mention I had that mod already. Only works with certain companions, like Ada or Curie.
EDIT: It works if you have your companions already sent to a settlement in the past, hence "assigned" them to a settlement. Gee, wish they put that in the description.

I am also looking for a solution. I can't understand why would anything cause this problem. Spent 5 minutes walking around trying to trade gear with my companion once... I love fallout, but some bugs are infuriating.

I just use this one:

No idea if it works with UCF as I don't use it. Never had a single issue trading or any dialogue function with that.

The companion trade hotkey has for me worked for every companion without a hitch. Such a fantastic mod. Wish the command function would work with unconventional companions/slaves.

It's a very nice mod, but it only works with the first companion. Mod is older than UCF and the author had stopped with modding since. He will not be updating it to work with UCF. I use quick trade now, which is super useful, but only works with first three companions :D (I have robots and they take spots too)

Not sure which mod you are referencing but CCT works with all companions. At least under .163.

"FAQs:

Q: Does this work with multiple companion mods?
A: Not at present. The hotkey will only command your first companion. (If you've noticed, this mod was published *before* UCF!)

I haven't had much time to mod lately, but I'll look into adding multi-companion support when I next get the chance."
