do they count as people?
will look on the rooftops
Started to use console commands this way with several forums :
- prid 0002740E moveto player = doesn't complied
- player.placeatme 0002740E = NPC is coming back to you, but unable to talk to him.
He started walking in a direction so I followed him (maybe when arrived would be back to normal?), so I followed and protected him for miles ... he was like set to go back to the third rail pub, where you meet him first, but nothing changes, felt like having a zombie Macready now.
Maybe someone knows the magical console command ?
Just as a reminder, the NPC's ID :
Cait - 00079249
Codsworth - 000179FF
Curie - 001647C6
Dogmeat - 0003D766 (WIP)
Deacon - 00045AC9
John Hancock - 00022613
Robert MacCready - 0002740E
Paladin Danse - 00027683
Piper - 00002F1F
Preston Garvey - 00018FD9
Strong - 00027682
Nick Valentine - 00002F24
X6-88 - 000BBEE6
Manque X6-88: player.moveto 000E210A
Perdu Hancock: player.moveto 00022615
It requires the Vault-Tec DLC, but if you have that, try making the special Console and see if it shows where they are (and that they are there). HTH, GL!
I suggest using the "moveto" Console Command, when trying to find Companions (save first, in case you get stuck somehow when moving like this); you appear where they are and will find them even if they are on a roof somewhere (you might spawn 'in the roof' though).
The reason you are getting a zombie Macready btw, may be due to using the ID of the Object, the NPC, and not the Reference ID in the game. An easy way I remember it is like this:
The PRID is the "source" object of the thing
The Ref ID is the "location" of the thing, but a copy the game made to "play with"
In the game, you need to reference the Reference ID [sorry lol, USE the Ref ID], since that is 'where it places it in the world'. Creating a new ID with "place at me" will be an 'empty copy' as mentioned above (for objects/weapons/etc it might be OK, but for NPCs they can end up not working).
To find the Reference ID of an object in game, I usually use
help NAME 0
Which is the command to List all the information on 'whatever NAME is'. It can be a long list, so for Objects and Items, use the number 4 instead of 0 (instead of it listing 'everything' with that title, it will just list Objects (making less of a long result for you, useful if the thing is an object)).
Where was I? lol Oh, so the command "help Macready 0" should list the in-game Reference ID the game is using. If you use that ID and the "moveto" command, it should then teleport you to the location where Macready is.

In my current game whenever i dismiss Curie she appears in the vault you get her from, no matter where you try to send her. Oddly all the other companions work just fine.
I also tried " getav CA_affinity" with his ID ingame, not complied as well
Shall I delete him and try resurrect, to rebuild the affinity with his son story and all ?
BTW thanks again for the console ID explanation
He's missing, but I can hear his sentences from time to time... without him. Maybe this game is haunted lol, or it's just the way you gotta endure the technical fails to enjoy the wonderful lore...
And so when I landed back there, he was with the good dialog. I sent my current partner (Strong) to the ghouls'colony , I hope I'll see him there.
It seems like having quests implying the NPC's interaction kinda "force" him to set back ingame, as Curies' example previously. Anyway I will miss Macready and Valentine...
I used a moveto for me to her, after looking up her ID with HELP, and she was on a high roof/ledge in Hangman's Alley (along the wall towards where the Workshop is), I spawned just below her, but was looking at her; I had found her 'stuck' there. Good point Iso...
