Question about boobbleheads.
Hey guys... is it a waste to get a special booblehead before maxing a sppecial?

I mean... if I get my perception up to 10 and then I get the perception booble head, my base percepcion will get to 11 right?

If instead I get the booblehead before maxing that stat, would I be locked at base 10?

No, it's not a waste. The game is not designed for having all SPECIAL stats on 11 ...
If you are one of the 0,1% powergamer-min-maxer's, yeah its maybe a waste.

if you wish for perception to get above ten with a bobblehead. Dont find the bobblehead until after you have raised your special to ten.

Thank you guys!

The difference between 10 and higher is not much of a thing for many special stats. In the right special, a higher than 10 value does grant some benefits. More settlers is one example. Examining each type of special is for what you desire from that special is the way to go. Some times its best to just get the 'free' special perk right now. Other times you may seek to completely max out that category.

I don't get the point to waiting. By the time you get 11 in all stats, just to look cool, you have done everything in the game at least once*. Going back and clearing the same areas over and over seems silly. Why? If you do not take the perception bobblehead early, then you are handicapped for the whole game by having one less point. Until you finally put the tenth point into it. Why does anyone want that?

*OK, you COULD get to level 100 or whatever you need to get 10 in all by just doing downtown Boston over and over and leave the rest of the map until you get 11 in all, but that seems even more silly.

There are things that you are sure to get no matter how long it takes, all stats up to level 10 for example, even all perks, once you reach level 250.

Some other things you will never ever get once you made a choice, they are forever lost.

The problem solver is one of such things, that extra point of endurance (which can become a ton of HP depending of what your level is) the extra 10% vats increase from that 1 point in perception, the extra 10% damage from that extra point in strength, the extra sneak bonus and sneak damage from ace operator, etc.

I do get things like this might not mean much to some players but to others like myself they are huge.

I suppose this is subjective.

This is wrong. This is how it worked in FO3. In FO4 the bobbleheads STACK with your base stat level. You can verify this yourself by checking your stats when you level up. They will display the UNMODIFIED value.

BlazeD is wrong, Lola is right. If you had read the topic you would have noticed Lola was like the fourth person to say this.

Also it is possible to get a stat to 12 with a bobblehead. It requires NOT starting with a base 10, applying a debuff at 10 from a drug or addiction then using the SPECIAL book, THEN going and getting the bobblehead.

The difference is minor but it is noticable. Especially when it comes to accuracy, action points, etc.

OP, you know it's bobblehead not booblehead, right?

"Booblehead" is funny though. :-)
