Vortex is freaking the f*** out and I don't know what to do
Earlier today the game started freezing in one specific part, so I verified game cache files, then reinstalled all 136 mods and enabled them, which took quite a while (some of them were complicated)

After that I restarted, I had no mod conflicts, the game worked great, no crashing, all well.

Except I just downloaded a mod to modify the nuclear phycist perk and now Vortex is freaking out. It tried to disable every single file, telling me all my mods, the entire list, was conflicting with each other.

I had to re-enable everything, but it still showed up as disabled. I had to go to plugins, sort the load order, re-enable everything again, and it shows enabled on vortex, except when I go the game, the game doesn't think any mods are enabled...?

I'm very confused. So in order to play the game, I have to reinstall every mod all over again? I have no idea what vortex is doing, it keeps trying to re-enable mods, which causes it to see each mod as a conflict, which causes it to re-enable the other mods, forcing it into some demonic endless cycle.

reinstalling the entire list all over again, again, now.

I don't understand everything was working literally 5 minutes ago before I decided to download and install another mod. :/

Switch back to Nexus Mod Manager community version, there's no reason to use the mess that is vortex

First, whatever you do, do not go back to NMM. There is a reason that Nexus decided to write a new mod manager from scratch rather than try and fix NMM. It is inherintly broken and fails at the most basic task of a mod manager, keep track of files added by mods.

There is a known bug with a recent version of Vortex that is causing what you are seeing. Your best bet is to go to the Vortex support forums for help.

I just talked to a friend of mine who helps with Vortex support. They said that the issue should be fixed in ver 1.2.19, which should be the most current version.

There is an option in Vortex to migrate your setup. A couple of things to consider though.

If you have an ongoing save, or you have a completely stable game, and you are not going to be adding/removing any more mods, then don't switch.

NMM would directly install mods into the Data directory, so after switching over, its probably the best idea to uninstall the game and delete everything in the Data directory, then reinstall the game.

Vortex detects and resolves conflict in a much different way than NMM. I have used it to setup a couple different games, and it takes a minute to get used to (I use MO2). But once your used to it, it works pretty well. I would definitely whatch Gophers Vortex vids on YouTube though (search for Gopher on YouTube).

That being said, there are probably going to be some issues when moving over. In the long run, its worth it though.

Ok. No problem really. I can survive with 139 mods without needing to download another until the issue is fixed haha.

As long as I don't download any new mods I wont get the issue.
