I can’t run the game in 1440p [SOLVED]
Everytime I launch the game the launcher auto optimizes the game to ultra for me. I have configured the ultra.ini file to match the settings I want including the isize h 1440 w 2560 options, but the launcher still makes it 1920x1080 no matter what I do. Is there a way to disable the “autodetect hardware” thing and is there a way to force the game to 2k resolution?

This is the first time I launch the game with my new 2k monitor and I was looking forward to trying the game out but it’s unbearable to play 1080p on a 1440p screen.

i would suggest using "bilagos configuration tool" from nexus "it is a launcher replacer not a mod" you can configure the screen res from there! just remember to hit the save button once you have set the res and then you should be good to go.

to start , does your display cable support 1440p ? (some dont)

change
iSize H=1080
iSize W=1920
to what you want in fallout4prefs.ini (in your docs folder)
it's under [display]

I am guessing you are using fallout4launcher.exe to run the game each time you play?

If so don't, use either the f4se_launcher.exe if you us the script extender, or use fallout4.exe, the launcher should only be run once to set things up after that, never again, unless like you just did you changed the hardare setup.

Also right click on the desktop and choose the display settings option somewhere on that page should be the resolution option, check the list box to make sure that you can use the resolution you want.

If you can the opem up the fallout4prefs.ini using notepad, which can be found in

Documents\My Games\Fallout4

and scroll down to find the

iSize H=
iSize W=

In this case you would want to chnage them to

iSize H=1440
iSize W=2560

Do not forget to save the file, now try running the game through fallout4.exe, if that still pulls up the setting options then there is something else wrong with the install.

Yeah my cable supports 1440p it’s a mini display port, I’ve tried 1440p in different games already. I also changed the isize options in the prefs.ini folder but it didn’t work for me. I will try fastboyslims advice as I remember using that launcher earlier, thanks anyways!

When I run the game through steam it always open up the launcher for some reason, but I will try a custom launcher from nexus tomorrow, thanks for your reply anyway!

This. For some reason my .ini file was Read Only, once I sorted that out the resolution (and other graphics settings) detected once and have been fine at 1440p ever since.
