Easiest way to deal with it is to imagine it was useless and go on with your life. The Rolling pin of who gives a #($* (allows you to avoid quests being forced on you). The Tire Iron of utter despair (causes you sit down and cry for shaun when used).
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Those actually would make a good mod.
Also, sometimes a "Legendary" Enemy spawns, but is not actually legendary. (IE: Does not Mutate)
Additionally, some corpses can spawn legendary from random events, most notably the Dog and Radscorpion event, the "Test" event where a bunch of pack corpses are found around a leveled Deathclaw, and Dr. Forsyth's note, where one of the dogs can spawn Legendary despite being dead.
it didnt even leave a body either, just a plain laser pistol
Without finding the body, you wouldn't really know if it worked or not, as if it was a low DPS weapon (Even something amazing like an Explosive Double Barrel Shotgun) or piece of armor, they wouldn't drop it physically.
well i shot down the bird and the gunner bailed the wreck, i ran up to it and blasted it point blank in the face with a shotgun.
it just disappeared and the pistol was at my feet
weird af, who knows
In the span of 30 minutes I killed a Legendary Repair Bot (lvl75) a legendary albino deathclaw (lvl45) and a legendary raider (lvl45). I got trinkets. Maybe 700 caps worth of minor armor peices with an effect and single mod weapons.
Random drop legendaries are nothing to get excited about or spend much time on.
