Clear Boston Airport before Brotherhood of Steel arrives?
Anyone try doing this?
There's a quest that you can pick up after the BoS shows up where several characters comment on the large battle with ferals upon their arrival at the airport, which drives one of the recruits 'insane'.

But if you clear the airport yourself before the BoS ever shows up, the battle never takes place?
That quest doesn't happen?

Probably not.

I also cleared Fort Strong but am expecting the mutants to simply respawn.
The elevator leading down to the Mini Nuke storage area was obstructed with debris.

I don't think it has any bearing of risk to break the game... The game is free play as is really, with missions you can choose to take, or not choose to take. Even bothering with Preston. Well, lest not for me, game has been running fine..

dont think you can even get to the ferals under the airport until the quest, you can do the starting areas in the terminals and clearn ghouls, but don't think the way is open until the quest is started, so no need to worry.

I've cleared it a few times. The quest in question requires a keycard to unlock sub level areas you can't get to until the prydwen arrives. Simiar, if you go to the building where you kill the courser for the chip, it's boarded up. If you go to Hagen without Dogmeat, the elevator is boarded off. If you go to Virgils cave before the memory dig, he's just not there. They cover all the bases on core quests.

I had a fun one recently, with the Sentinel site, where the innermost part has a door blocked by trashed furniture if you visit before the Liberty Reprimed quest, preventing you from getting past to open the door to the storage area for the Mark 28 bombs.

But if you use exiting power armour to glitch through the storage area doors, you shove yourself right into the middle of the Liberty Reprimed quest, which roundly messes up the Brotherhood's storyline, since there are all sorts of other things that haven't been set up and which don't automatically trigger.

It's actually a good idea to visit the surface of the airport before the BoS arrive. There are a TON of Ghouls around the place, which means multiple Legendary items up for grabs. You also get a lot of experience from them, so pop some Squirrel Stew and Berry Mentats and go on a rampage.
