yes, You can do missions for all the factions UP TO A POINT,

But be warned, By the end of the game you will have to decide what faction you want to side with perminently.

You can do almost all missions for all factions up till like the last two or three, where you are locked into whoever you chose.

Just that "i'll join" verbal agreement doesn't get you stuck with anyone.

so are there different endings depending on which faction i choose at the end?

No matter who you join the minutemen stick around so you'll still be General and be a part of one of the other 3 factions.

Yes, Pluse *SPOILERS!*

You get to keep playing after you finish the main story, Each faction has a special perk that they offer once you've gained their trust, but depending on the route you take towards the end, that perk won't be avaliable anymore.

You have the Brotherhood, The Institute, And the RailRoad who cannot stand eachother.

The Minutemen are the forth, But they take a different route than the other factions, I can't say much more without spoiling the ending for you.

Think of the Minute Men like Yes Man from New Vegas.. they're the standard fall back option that never disappears.

"...End of the game..."

Can't beat the game without choosing a side.

well then you can join the railroad if you like saving mouthy cash registers or toasters.

Or the Minutement if you like playing pretend-Army.
