Game won't start (Black screen) FIXED??

I just brought the season pass and tried to launch the game but it just blackscreens and i can't use my pc until i restart my pc. If there are any fixes for this that would be great.

Did the base game run before you purchased the season pass or did you just purchase the entire game?

brought the base game from g2a durin the free weekend and just brought the season pass from g2a today. The base game worked fine before.

So, if something from the DLC install screwed up your game then its either a bad install or you had some mods that the dlc install messed up.

Our first goal is to try to get you back to a working vanilla game without any mods.

Goto Documents\My Games\Fallout4 and delete all the .ini files. There should be 3.

Then Click | Steam | Libaray | Games | FO4 | Properties | Local Files | Verify Local Game Cache

This will go thru and verify each file and download any missing or modified ones

Then try to start the game.

After that you can try to reinstall any mods. Some mods have different files depending upon whether you have the DLCs or not and that could cause an issue.

Probably should have mentioned that i don't have any mods. I already verified game cache and redownloading isn't an option.

Since you already bought the game, it's a simple matter of uninstalling it and reinstalling it through the Steam Channel.
I realize you might not want to do this since download time can be excruciatingly slow.
But, sometimes that's all it needs to do.

Click Steam | Help | System Information and post that here. You might have a hardware or driver issue.

It's not the download time, it's the fact i'm wasting 34+ GB of data to do it.

It wouldn't be my drivers since i just played it before installing them. It's something to do with the game.

Whoever you bought it from is censored out so at the moment, that's puzzling.
Unless you're very angry and used some descriptive language that caused it.
I don't blame you for being upset, but if you can work with us maybe we can get this all sorted out and you can go on with your life.

g2a is a site to buy games from. Valve censored it because they sell "stolen games" except they don't, they just sell games cheaper and in my own currency.

ok somehow got it to work by deleting the 3 .ini files in the my games section.

Dudes, thank you for this. I just had the black screen deal happen. I did the .into thing and the steam verify. It worked and I'm supper greatful that there are techies like yous out there. Kudos, hazah!
