How likely are you to get a virus from Nexus
I know it sound dumb for me to ask but whats the chance of downloading a harmful mod from there. I just dont like the idea of 3rd party sites and i know tons of people use it but i just dont know.

00000000000.1 percent as all files uploaded from there are immediately scanned.

It's not very likely at all. The files are moderated and contain pretty much only model, script and texture files that the game reads. Pretty much the only way for you to get infected is if you go clicking some unknown .exe files from recently uploaded files.

Not only do the files get scanned, the Nexus staff actually reacts quickly to alerts and does not hesitate to swing the banhammer.

Better safe than sorry...

Going to join the bandwagon... hundreds of mods between multiple games. Never a problem. Tho I do still tend to avoid new mods until I see plenty of others have tried it. This gurentees me safety.

Can it happen? Yes. In fact the Nexus has been comprimised in the past.

Will it happen? I highly doubt it, but still scan everything you download yourself to be even more sure; though even scanners can't save us 100% of the time.

No, not all files. They don't scan large files and even have a warning telling you as much.

when u say scan do u mean with anti virus or does nexus and a scanning system to use

I have not had a single issue with NMM and have used it for a long time. If you are still worried you could always use your own stuff to scan as well. As is you should be running scans at every week. ( Daily depending on how often you download stuff and use the net Also do not just use one program and thats it. I currently have 3 different programs I like to use.. I know some people who use more than that but security is kind of a worry for them due to the systems they take care of. )

When I advised you to scan, I meant with an anti-virus. As far as Nexus is concerned, I don't know what their procedure is, but trusting it completely is a mistake.

Don't be the first to download a new file the second it is uploaded and you'll be fine always.

More likely to get cancer from the forums than a virus on Nexus.

/kek.

Insanely low. Downloaded over 400 mods between Skyrim and Fallout games and never had an issue with them ^^

i dont think normal mod files can actually contain a virus

Nexus scans all files these days. I only recall two potential problems over several years.

Years ago someone used (apparently stolen) account password to change files from one of the mods. Old system didn't catch it immediately, due change being authorised. However, it only took few hours them to clear it out.

Nexus ramped their security further after that. Now all changes are scanned and they are using up to date scanner as well. Nexus has grown from that and has a lot of new resources to work with.

Someone just recently tried to upload malicious files to FO3 section of site. Files never got in to circulation. Scanner caught the data from upload and moderators banned the author outright - which points out that malicious data was uploaded intentionally and wasn't due to secondary infection.

Neither of these cases ended up being serious. First one is old and can't happen anymore. Second case was caught before files ended up being actually available.
