What is causing my game to run at 50fps?
Hello, my game is running at 50fps, which is strange because it was running at 72fps yesterday.

I have gone into the ini files already and turned off vsync but that did nothing.

1. Mods, if you have any.

2. The free HD texture pack DLC if you downloaded it.

3. Yesterday you were just out exploring the Commonwealth and today you're in downtown Boston. For this, lower Shadow Distance to medium and turn Godrays off.

I did install mods, but nothing to do with FPS, I don't have HD pack installed and I have both those settings turned off.

And, #1 wins the prize.

Still betting you're closer to downtown Boston now OR you're near Corvega.

Yes, I am near Diamond City!

Is there anyway to fix this 50fps cap?

There is no fps cap. Lowering your Shadow settings is all you can do other than getting Shadow Boost or other performance mods off nexus.

Okay, will give it a try, thank you. :)

You're welcome.

I'm suspecting unusually high atmospheric ionization caused by the approaching solar eclpise. I'd recommend constructing an ion barrier out of heavy duty aluminum foil and placing this at a 19 degree angle on top of your computer's tower. However, if you're gaming on a lappy, you're definitely ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Don't ask me why or how - "It just works" XD

LOL, loudly!

Also you should play with vsync on capped at 60. Any higher and you get issues with things like physics, the game engine was desined to run at max 60.

Basically, if the game runs at 60fps, everything is normal. Bump it up to, say 140fps, and the in-game speed is doubled. Bottles fall at around twice the speed, players are roughly twice as fast

How do I cap it at 60? I tried everything and it stays at 50.

The angle depends on the latiitude where you live, it may be 19 degrees where you live but it is 21 degrees where I live

First of all, please define "everything". In other words, what have you done so far? That will save us (and you) from repeating what you've already tried.

Ah, but you haven't taken into account the constant fluctuations of the geomagnetic field and the effects of the solar wind conbined with the rotation and curvature of the Earth. That's why 19 degrees is globally recommended.
