How does Plasma Rifle damage work?
Lets say my plasma rifle had 40 balistic damage and 40 energy damage. Do those two numbers added together provide the total damage? For example, if my combat rifle did 70 damage, would my plasma theoretically do more because it is 40 and 40?

But if you like different colors glowing goo on the floor, you should carry a regular laser, an institute laser & a plasma gun. ;-p
This is 2277/8, lasers are in, ballistics are out.

I just started Far Harbor and the Game dropped a legendary plasma pistol that is 48/48 with 50 radiation, Im temped to hop back to my main base in the Common wealth to trick it out before i continue.

Mod it!
I would plant pro sniper barrel and powered cores, it would be a killer rifle.
I have something around 100 balistic and energy damage in mine when fully upgraded :D

100 ? How come I am sitting at 66 ? Rifleman perks ?

European - The general rule of this game is - most enemies have ballistic protection so your reduced ballistic damage will be further reduced.

i don't know, it's the knee capper-break-something (i don't know the original name as i'm playing in italian) it's a legendary plasma rifle i found long ago and i still own it, fully modded have an huge amount of damage.

Rifleman at lv4, and "exploding bodies" at lv 1, maybe are those stacking?

I stick with my fully modded sniper plasma rifle.
Plasma rifles are terrible sniper rifles because they cannot take advantage of the Penetrator perk. If you are up against power armoured enemies or sentry bots you would do better with a basic hunting rifle.

Totally wrong but I CBA to explain to you because you are an antisocial PITA as you have shown time and again across many threads.

Well if you seen the one i'm using, and considering it almost one shot kill most of the sentry and junk bots, i wouldn't consider it terrible.

European - you are a brain dead goblin. I tolerated you for too long. Goodbye.

Kneecapper is pretty common and comes on many weapons, it's a sniper's delight as it floors your opponent for quite a long time, enough to get in killer shots. Sweet.

illgib - I am still to get rifleman, this is my first char. & perks are not there because I was playing under the false impression they must be taken sequentially.

Energy damage is bugged/broken, ballistic weapons are the most powerful in the game. A shame as i love the sound effect of a semi auto laser rifle.
Simply mod your game then, to your liking.
Show me this mod that fixes energy weapons and I'll glady use it.

yep the eye candy with the gauss rifle is great but when it comes to bang for the buck and killing stuff fast, nothing compares to my trusty Overseer Guardian, lol
instigating gauss rilfe with a scilencer and all sandman perks it does thousands of damage a shot nothing can take a hit from it

My sniper laser was always at least 10 dmg. over my ballistic .50cal. and it can fire rapidly for 3x the amount before changing magazine. My auto laser was always 3-4 dmg. above any ballistic auto. Claims are false because of using the wrong weapon on the wrong enemies. Aka energy vs. synths and robots, ballistic vs. supermutants & deathclaws. Also, don't use gamma guns on ghouls, kinda given, but you know, some people are ________.
