I get the impression Bethesda set it up the way they did for ultra-stealthy types, characters completely dedicated to stealth with perks, armor mods and stealth boys. You sneak in quietly, not killing anything, find the turret controls and hack them and let them do the killing for you. I'm considering trying a run specifically geared for that kind of build to see if it works.
even weak characters can just pick off the turrets from long range with a pipe pistol.
The Terminal stations are very poorly placed, and usually you can only reach them after a fight breaks out. Though there are some well placed terminals that really change the tide of a fight, like under the airport and that flooded Mirelurk water filtration station.
I was not saying that it's impossible to sneak. I was playing survival with 6 agility and 4* sneak and sneak attacking most enemies and I was able to stay hidden most of the time.
my point was that the turret control terminals are always hidden so far deep behind enemy lines, it is 99.9% of the time always easier to just shoot the frigging turrets with your gun. sneaking past that many enemies to turn off a turret that isn't much of a threat to you or the enemy is just dumb.
because if I'm sneaking anyway, I may as well just sneak attack the turrets. they die in 1 shot
