Help! How do I get the overseer's guardian without doing the hole in the wall quest?
Is there an order of events where you can save the cat, buy the overseer's guardian from the Vault 81 store and get out before it triggers the Hole in the Wall quest? So that the kid doesn't die?

If you just do the quest the kid won't die... probably. You also meet Curie, and she's a great companion.

The kid doesn't die if you give him the cure.

The game waits for you to find the cure. He only dies if you find the cure and keep it for yourself. If you don't do anything, it's as if time is stopped.

Thanks, Protoman. So I take it it's not a timed quest? Is that correct? I tried the hole in the wall scenario and I can't even get past the robot in the hallway. That thing is mean. My only other alternative is to use power armor but since I hear the mole rats can infect you just by biting a robot companion I wonder if power armor would even help.

Drop a line of fragmines from the door at the turrets back to the stairs and tease it. Stand downstairs under the walkway a wait.

Edit: dismiss your companion.

I just buy the gun from Alexis first time I enter the Vault, no need to do the quest.

Me too. I haven't done the Hole in the Wall quest in a long time.

Me too. I haven't done the Hole in the Wall quest in a long time.

I do it every game. Not for the gun but for the robot. Curie never gets to be a synth. I guess if I had DLC I might not either.
