if you like to build settlements and want to help make life better for your fellow wastelanders, minutemen.
if you feel bad for synths and want to help them out, railroad.
if you like playing as a bad guy, join institute.
that's all the proof i need that the institute has absolutely no morals and will do anything to further their own goals. they don't care about mankind as much as they claim they do, their actions prove this.
not to mention super mutants being present in the commonwealth are thanks to the institute too.
the bos is selfish and insincere as well about supposedly caring about the people of the commonwealth, but their own goals lead them to actions that do more help than harm to the average people of the commonwealth.
bos is by no means a "good" faction either, but they're certainly doing more to help the commonwealth than the institute is. strong-arming a few farms here and there is cruel but the bos does have the long term benefit of seeking & destroying the institute.
If you want maximum role-play then just join one of them. Skip the MM or the RR or the BOS.
If you want to see as much of the game as possible then join them all. You can go pretty far with all of them until you are forced to pick-n-choose.
I then did the "peaceful ending" solution that left all but the institute alive this of course does not fit role playing as we have to abandon each faction at some point ending with the MM in order to pull it off. Then there is an alt ending mod that lets you have the institute still alove as well.
As for the institute they have some good ideas and some very bad ones. The state of the surface is of little concern to them and instead of just hiring some local farmer etc. to help them they abduct and replace people rather than work along side of them.
Actually according to lore it was the US military experimenting that created them the institute was researching fev but as with other things they went about it wrong by creating supermutants to test on instead of capturing or just collecting samples and field testing outside on existing ones
You decide which you believe is better for humanity's future.
Keep your head on straight. Make informed choices.
Don't always go by what you hear or see. Dig DEEP.
This game is deeper than it appears to be.
Keep in the back of your mind; "hearsay and rumor" .. FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF.
I know who I pick now after several runs, but I won't tell you. You'll have to figure that out for yourself.
Get high charisma. *max preferably* .. you'll understand why later.
But isnt joining them all like restart the game ish, cause can you actually join all of it in one game?
Brotherhood. Zealous crusaders seeking to destroy any threat and control the land.
Institute. Calculating scientists willing to trade lives for humanity's bright future.
Minutemen. Plucky defenders fighting together to survive the wasteland's dangers.
Railroad. Secret guardians of those who are oppressed and treated as inhuman tools.
You can always keep a savegame at a point before you turn any of the factions hostile and try out each alternative.
we have the institute to thank for our super mutant infestation in fallout 4. they have mankinds best interests in mind, after all!
The purpose of researching FEV was so the Institute could develop the synthetic organics technology they used for Gen 3 synths.
BOS are bigots
Institute morally dubious
Railroad don't really care about the people if the Synths are safe
so yeah
