This is what I always do, the reward from Jack's father is far better than siding with Jack.
Its a super rad away that also gives you +2 or +3 strength.
I had this issue in my game. I wrapped up Cabot House, went off to Far Harbor. Weeks later I had to return back to the Commonwealth because Nick fell in combat and because of Survival Mode, decided to return home back to Diamond City...
After returning back to the Commonwealth, I stopped off at Parson's, but even though a few weeks have gone by (most of those in Far Harbor) Jack still refuses to speak about the Artifact, even though I have the quest objective.
Can anyone confirm if spending time in Far Harbor causes an issue where the game doesn't count the time spent there when determining if Jack is ready to talk?
I also had an issue with the Emogene Cabot mission where I had gone off to the Amphitheatre before heading to Good Neighbor, talking to Brother Thomas, only to find that he wanted me to follow him to the back room to talk, and I subsequently left deciding to return back to Good Neighbor to progress through the quest normally. When I returned back to the Amphitheatre, I finished off the rest of that dialog, convinced Thomas that I wasn't worth his time, and then asked about Emogene. When the back door was opened, Emogene wasn't there, and instead it pointed back to Cabot House, where she happened to be in the locked up part of Cabot House, that doesn't open up until after you complete that quest... Needless to say, a few console commands later and we're back on track.
The odd thing is, I've come across more bugs this time around than I did back when the game was released and playing my first time through...
