Codsworth Affinity Bug?

Hello, I just got Fallout 4 and all the dlc on sale and have been loving so far. I've maxed Preston's, Piper's, Cait's, Strong's, and Nick's affinity so far without any trouble. I even have each one of their corresponding perks, which is part of the reason I'm bothering with it in the first place. I've begun to try and max Codsworth's affinity and I just hit the [Codworth admires you] text option, yet when I turned around to see what he had to say the dialogue didn't play. In fact he didn't approach me at all like the others did. I tried every default dialogue option (asking how the relationship is going and even dismissing him) and nothing works. Fast travelling, exiting the game and re-entering, nothing. I haven't fully maxed it yet but I am worried something is bugged and any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

If I may pop in with an idea, I believe he can't just "admire you", he has to "idolize you", which shows he has reached the Highest Level of Affinity...

If it bugs out on you and doesn't work, don't worry the Perk from him is only -10 Damage from Robots and Devices. Not too great but that's only my personal opinion on the damage reduction amount - I like him as a Companion otherwise!

Sorry for the misunderstanding, but I do understand that he does have to idolize you for the perk, which is my end goal. I was expecting a dialogue at admires and then at idolizes like everyone else, but when I hit admires he didn't say anything and just kept offering purified water or telling jokes. I'm worried about it affecting the end goal, idolization, because the admire dialogue didn't trigger so why should it. Thanks for sharing his perk though, it eases me because it doesn't sound that good compared to Preston's or even Nick's, so it shouldn't be that big of a deal if it truly is permanently bugged. Not at all, fam - sorry I didn't get it at first.

Hmm that's a pickle... Not sure other than maybe; have you done his little Personal Quest?
I haven't used him a lot after finding so many others, so I haven't even gotten that far with him - does he even have a Personal Quest?

Sadly, this seems to be a bug that has been around and may ultimately not be fixable...

There is a way to check his Affinity Level (out of 1000) with Console Commands, but I haven't found it yet, looking around - it also won't be of much help if you are playing Survival Mode...

Open the console, click on Codsworth and type "getav CA_affinity".

His first dialogue towards you starts at 500.

Thanks for the links! I tried it on Codsworth and his affinity came out to be 582, which means the dialogue was suppossed to trigger and didn't. I tried the romance console command on him, but since he doesn't have a romance it didn't work. My next question would be if there is any console command for making him repeat the non-romancable dialogue in a similar fasion to the guy in that thread who made Curie repeat her romance dialogue because he missed out on it the first time.

Thanks for your help everybody I've found a workaround. I used console commands to set his affinity back to 490 and then modded my armor to raise it back above 500. This however, didn't trigger the dialogue either. After searching some more I found that it isn't nesscary to have the prior dialogue on companions for you to trigger the last dialogue, the "romance" one. Admittedly cheating, I set his affinity to 990 and then modded my weapon and he started to idolize me, floating over and starting the final dialogue piece. It worked, and now I have the Robot Sympathy perk. So even if it was a little shady, setting the affinity higher for the next dialogue will work, you don't need prior dialogue to have been triggered. While this doesn't make much sense canonically it is a patch for a bug that IMO shouldn't be in a game as polished as Fallout 4. Including screenshot for proof.
