Is Home Plate at Diamond City Worth it?
I've heard home plate is a pretty cool 'settlement' within Diamond City. Since I usually hang out near Diamond City. Should I buy it? 3000 Caps roughly translates to 1 hour of farming. I've heard you can turn home plate into a cool little home (Kinda buying it just because of that). Is it worth it?

Note: I think there is one settlement very close to Diamond City. Forgotten the name, from what I know, its not oberland.

Ahh ok, thanks. I think I might go for home plate instead.

don't go trash talking Hangman. It is my favorite location because of where it is: right near Diamond City. i spent 100 hours in survival mode just clearing the area around this settlement. And it is quite easy to take over: go up on the roof and snipe at them.

Home Plate is not a settlement because you can't connect it to other settlements, and no one comes here other than your companion. But i do think it is worth the 2000 caps just to have a place to stash loot and gear and not have to worry about some lazy whiney settler stealing it. Other than storing stuff, it really is not the valuable. It is two load screens from the game world. Not sure how long that is on computer, but on ps4 that is almost two minutes of load screen. So i rarely go there unless i am stockpiling gear or ammo. When in diamond city area, i go to hangman.

I bought it and installed a mod that lets you link to Hangman for resource sharing. Pimped out Dugout and spent one night there then went back to Sanctuary. To each their own I suppose, but for me Dugout wasn't worth the caps in the end.

Na. I am not using Home Plate as a settlement. Just a loot stashing place and a cool home. Like you said :)

It is place where you can build at a higher detail and no settlers to knock it all down or steal stuff.

Hangmans Alley is not small, you can destroy the guard post + walls in the middle and expand it quite a bit. Plus it builds upwards, you can have 4 or 5 floors that it will always be fully protected by the buildings around it.

Homeplate is still nice, you have all the vendors and then some outside your door, fairly decent space, no attacks to speak of, and its 2k caps rather than 3.

yepp. Stash place. It is nice to decorate, too. It has more of a civilized feel to it, especially if you have the vault dlc that has the stain less steel bathroom fixtures.

his screen shot gives you (OP) an idea of how much freedom you have in decorating the space. I put disco lights in mine and a stainless steel toilet and sink to give me that vault tech feel. But you can decorate as you want. And as i said above, nothing you put here will disappear into some settlers inventory. As one of the other posts mentioned, it is right near three big weapon vendors. So it does have value. Do you want to deal with 2 load screens, though?

exactly. If you have the dlc and workshop stuff that comes with it, building up is very easy: elevator, metal floors, glass walls. Even if it is small, it is a perfect base to explore the area around Diamond City. It is a large and rich area full of enemies and loot. It is right across from Cambrige that figures into the main quest so prevalently. Near the library and Trinity towers, the church...a lot of areas to explore.

Cool.

My only problem with Home Plate is that you can't link it to your settlement supply network.

You can buy/trade for materials from all the shops in DC.

There is a mod on Nexus for this that links it to Hangmans Alley so as long as that is connected to your network you can access raw materials from within Dugout.

I just steal the key to Kellog's old house when I first dust in to Diamond City. It's certainly worth more than I pay for it.
