cant send interact with Ashes in Here Kitty, Kitty?

so i just started it and found the cat. but i cant interact with it, halp.

Where is Ashes? Does your quest pointer indicate her, or is there an intermediate step you need to complete? Is it the same situation if you save, quit, and reload?

With an unmodded game I was able to simply click on the kitten and it was put into my inventory.

it says "find Ashes" even though i found her at the dock on the other side of Walden Pond. i went back to a previous save and went to see if it would work, nothing :(

Oh, Ashes is a male. If you are using a PC, you can enter some commands to clear the bug. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Here_Kitty,_Kitty#Bugs
