Strange red flashes of light on screen?

It's almost like the red flashing light on a super mutant suicider, but all over my screen at random places and times. Never seen this before. Any one else?

The closest thing that comes to mind is something I saw happening when an assaultron was using its head laser somewhere nearby. It had gotten into a fight with other creatures and I kept getting red flashes across the sky when it used its laser.
