= Open Season, Porter Cage bug? =
Hi,

Couldnt find any info on this one.

When starting the Open Season, trying to kill any of the raiders outside first. Turns Porter Cage hostile, then without any change of killing him. He just sits on the ground, then gets up again starting to attack me.

Should i start the quest by trying to kill the leaders first inside their "nests" and avoid Porter Cage until last, or is this another Fallout 4 bug?

thanks for any tips

Dismiss Gage first, to the Fizztop, then he won't be essential anymore when you perform the open season quest and can be killed. If he's still your companion it might glitch but usually he'll stop being your follower first and force a dismiss, then he can be killed after.

Hi,

I tried that, still turns hostile after I've started to kill raiders. Really odd. I'll start to kill them off inside their HQ's then go outside and see what happes.

Ok, Gage will be persistant until you've actually killed all the gang leaders, then killable. You might want to head back to the CW and pickup another companion to help out. I was originally thinking you can't kill Gage even after you killed all the leaders.

Thanks, I had to go back to the commonwealth and get Codsworth (I've turned him into a mix between a sentry bot and a assaultron) and went all psychopath and killed everybody. I'm a bit surprised they didnt add a 3rd option, that didnt involved, either flood the commonwealth with raiders, or kill em all. Anyway. Thanks!

Hi sorry just to clarify, i'm on xbox and am having this issue... I need to take out the 3 raider bosses first, then Gage becomes killable? I have him dismissed and hanging out under the lift. Pretty much the first raiders i'm killing are the ones outside Fizztop, but Gage just keeps getting back up. Thanks
Hi mate,

I had to kill the 3 raider bosses first as well, then i had to go back to commonwealth to get codsworth. Then he became killable, so I don know. I didnt use cage as a companion at all. So it is a really annoying bug, so maybe you shold try going back to commonwealth, bring a companion and try again? Good luck

There's sort of a third option in that you can freely mix the other two options, working with the raiders as much as you like and turning on them at any point you choose. I mean, it ends up at "kill 'em all" eventually, but you get to choose how you get there.

I'm more disappointed that killing them all is such an unrewarding path, both in terms of actual gameplay elements (you get no special perks or advantages for playing nice and lose a companion and several quest providers) and in terms of aesthetic and roleplay choices (once you kill all the raiders, the parks stay empty forever, and nothing much changes for the traders).

Yep, I totally agree. I mean graphics and all, Nuka world was nice, game wise it felt like it was only half done. Limited side quest, quite empty waste... An as well, the park stays empty, they could at least keep pouplating it with a few settlers.

Yeah, same here. Thought i was the only one having the issue. However, just be careful because the "nav mesh" the navigation pattern for the companions are buggy outside of the fizztop mountain, near the lake/pond. If you use codsworth or any companion, they'll get launched like a rocket out into the waste. Happend several time for me, really weird and annoying bug.. He kind of flies up 50 m into the air, then breaks down. then shoots away into the waste.. This occured for me, im not sure you'll experience the same.. :)

I also Had the issue of Gage becoming hostile after I accidently hit his gang with friendly fire.
He wouldn't stop attacking until I got a new companion back at sanctuary in the common wealth.
Then he went to his post at the base of fizz top mountain.
After this bug hot battle he's acting like everything's cool. So huh. I guess it is.
