not really a huge fan of the BOS but id rather not kill her since unlike the majority of those psudo religious techno fetishists she seems like a decent person.

Here is a convoluted way. The mod Amazing Follower Tweaks can make most any NPC into a settler. Or a companion. Sometimes the settler option is not available. For instance, I was able to make the fridge-kids parents into settlers and send them to live in The Slog. But I had to make the kid a companion. Then set his home to The Slog and dismiss him. No idea if it will work on her. You might be able to save the child squires too.
I agree that the game is too bloodthirsty at times.

I believe Project Valkyrie does, but there's an option to take over the BoS in it. I'm not really into these BoS, but that mod is fantastic. With taking over the BoS it will bring them more in line with the FO3 Brotherhood ideals.
Unfortunatly you do need to also install Outcasts & Remants, but that's another great mod. Both mods add hours of new quests and new ways to finish the FO4 storyline including a way to have all factions live.

might be worth a look. my main issue it looks like you need fusion city rising and i wasnt a huge fan of the way they shoehorned the lone wander into things that but i can get over that.

No, you don't need Fusion City for either mod.
