Settlement Resource Bug solution

I have stumbled on a solution that seems to consistently fix the settlement resource bug. This is the bug where your resources such as beds, water, food incorrectly list as zero in the pip-boy. This bug used to drive me nuts!

What has been working for me is this: A soon as I notice the bug in my pip-boy I fast travel to the bugged settlement. Then I simply wait in the settlement and let the game run. Six minutes of waiting in the settlement seems to consistently solve the problem. It seems to "reset" the bugged settlement.

Sometimes while I'm waiting in the bugged settlement, another settlement will become bugged. If I wait the full six minutes, then fast travel to the new bugged settlement, both the first and second bugged settlements will return to normal. After doing this, my settlements are usually stable for one or more hours, at least.

Its not a perfect solution, but I find it consistently works for me. I got the idea for six minutes because I read somewhere that the game has a six minute cycle for saving its state, or something like that.

Anyway I don't claim this is a perfect solution, but I've played about 50 hours since starting to use it and I rarely experience the resource bug anymore.

Note: I'm playing the PS4 version of the game. I assume the same solution will work for other platforms but I haven't tried it myself.

This makes sense. The games does need 6 real time minutes to reset things. There are many scripts that run when you are in a settlement. As I understand it, the bug is caused by some of them not ending correctly when you leave a settlement. But it is just a pip-boy display problem. There is no real affect on the settlement. Just don't look at that tab and the problem is solved. :)

Not a corrupted save game. Its a well known bug thats been happening since day 1 the game was released.
Best solution I have found for it .... dont fast travel into or out of your settlements. Going to a settlement, if you feel the need to fast travel, travel to a near by location then walk the rest of the way. When leaving, walk a short distance away from the settlement, then fast travel. I started doing this about 900 hrs of game time ago and havent had a problem since.

It may be that the bug is different on different platforms. In the past I've experimented with fast traveling from outside of settlements, but the bug still occurs. Also re: Out of Bubblegum, in my experience, the bug isn't just a pip-boy display glitch: it causes settlement happiness to decline.
